My Name is Gabriel Episode 8 Recap

The episode begins with Jin-kyung’s second day in Kigali, Rwanda, where she is finally settling down in Kellia’s life as she heads out to get her hair done for the auditions that are to happen during the day. While the eccentric equipment at the salon shocks her and the viewers, her braid extensions give an edge to her look as she flaunts them and moves on to the auditions.

The first audition is for a famous designer in the place and Jin-kyung’s nerves get to her as she awaits her turn. Meanwhile, her friends Kevine and Helvin get to audition before her and the latter’s smooth walks leave Jin-kyung amazed. Soon, it is her turn and while her nerves and desperation for the job make up for quite a few comical scenes, her smooth walks leave both the designer and the audience in awe.

The trio then auditions for another designer, and Jin-kyung’s flattery is out in the open as she tries her best to land another gig. Soon after the auditions are over, it is time for some party time for Jin-kyung who goes out with her friends and younger brother. A fun night relaxes them all, but the real winner turns out to be her brother who refuses to leave the dancefloor, forcing Jin-kyung to go back home on her own.

The next day, Jin-kyung convinces her mother to try some Korean food and sell it at the restaurant, starting with some potato pancakes and tuna rice wrapped in laver. Turns out, this was quite a good decision as her mother is impressed by the food she has made and thinks about the plan proposed to her.

Soon, Kevine and Helvin arrive and Jin-kyung feeds them some tuna rice wraps until they finally reveal that they have bother received a call back from the designers. Meanwhile, Jin-kyung has gotten nothing; with this, her side of the episode comes to an end while we are left in anticipation of what will happen next.

The scene then shifts to Chang-wook’s life as Pipe as he returns home to enter an awkward atmosphere where a wife and daughter await him. While the two try to fight the tension in the air, it is not so easy as the strangers continue to communicate in their silent way. Meanwhile, Chang-wook only makes things worse for himself after he breaks the shower and does not inform Pipe’s wife of the same.

He then begins spending time with the little girl and takes care of her until her mother takes her for a bath. Meanwhile, Chang-wook is told of Pipe’s schedule which includes going to a walk at the square. He heads there and plays some football with the kids until Pipe’s friend arrives and takes him for some tacos.

Pipe’s brother-in-law joins them soon and after a relaxing time together, he heads back home. After a quick check on the wife and daughter, he heads to bed but not before checking the notification that he has to harvest one ton of agave by himself the next day. The next day, he wakes up early but with a nosebleed. But this doesn’t stop him from preparing for some harvesting and he heads out soon after.

He reaches the farm quite soon and begins his work, however, agave harvesting is not easy and Chang-wook continues to mess it up until his saviour- his brother-in-law arrives. After a small private lesson on agave farming, he begins work once again and the two finish the work soon before heading back home.

On the way back, he gets a new shower and a toilet seat and heads home to fix the things he needs to fix. But fixing a shower is not easy so he settles with replacing the toilet seat. Soon after, he heads out to meet his father-in-law with his wife and daughter and is amazed by the house that stands in this remote town.

He is soon given a house tour, but what surprises him the most is the cupboard filled with guns, and the episode is brought to an end with this scene.

My Name is Gabriel Episode 8 Review

Episode 8 brought upon a series of laughter with Jin-kyung and Chang-wook’s playfulness and struggle to get into character. However, the two have performed exceptionally well as Kellia and Pipe, which is not easy in any way. The two bring a sense of positivity and joy with their roles and this is something that almost everyone on this show has brought out.

The show teaches about the unique lives of people around the globe which is usually overlooked due to our own problems. But seeing these celebrities live the lives of these people who find joy in little things in life. Altogether, I am now looking forward to the end of Jin-kyung and Chang-wook lives as their Gabriels and who they really are.
