My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Episode 11 Recap

My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Episode 12 Review
My Hero Academia: Vigilantes Episode 12: Still

The episode begins with the buzz of preparation for a large-scale entertainment event that Pop Step is set to participate. Unlike the glammed-up image often associated with idols, Pop Step shows up in her casual, no-makeup look, accompanied by Koichi. From the start, it’s clear that fitting in won’t be easy for her. Some of the other performers, particularly a snide idol duo, immediately begin spreading negative remarks about her. Still, the event promises to be diverse and dynamic, featuring other exciting acts like a dance group and a band.

In the days leading up to the performance, the venue becomes a flurry of activity. Performers spend the entire week rigorously rehearsing and fine-tuning their acts. Pop Step, despite the criticism, doesn’t back down. Aware that her singing is often considered subpar, she throws herself into practice with renewed determination. Koichi stays by her side through it all, lending her his apartment to rehearse. His quiet encouragement plays a vital role in boosting her morale.

While Pop Step works on her craft, Captain Celebrity is busy doing what he does best fighting off villains. In between battles, he uses his popularity to promote the event to the public. Thanks to his efforts, by the time the day of the event arrives, the anticipation is sky-high.

However, just as everything seems to be falling into place, a new threat begins to emerge. Hachisuka, operating in the shadows, has been scheming to turn the event into a chaotic disaster. His plan involves unleashing a villain during the performance to create maximum disruption. As the tension escalates, several pro heroes from the main My Hero Academia series make guest appearances. Midnight and Present Mic are seen helping with crowd control and event security. Aizawa makes a dramatic entrance during a surprise villain attack, taking charge to protect the city and its citizens.

Today’s episode was definitely a turning point that had many things to showcase. At first, we see how the concert that Pop Step was looking forward to so much gets into trouble, of not happening anymore. As the electricity got cut, the situation became dire, and to settle the whole thing, the organisers would need more time. Thus, Koichi asks Pop Step to do what she does best and put forward a performance for everyone without thinking about appearances.

Here, Pop Step truly goes all out and gives a stellar performance in front of everyone. However, the bigger issue at hand is the battle between Knuckleduster and his daughter, Tamao. It becomes clear that Hachisuka took hold of Tamao when she left her home one day after fighting with her father. This act completely destroyed Knuckler’s family. Now Knuckleduster will do anything in his power to get his daughter back.

We see an intense battle sequence happen between the father and daughter, where Knuckleduster is sure that he will cure Tamao even if he has to hurt her.

Today’s episode was definitely one of the best, as it had everything that makes an episode great. It was dramatic, it was entertaining, and, at the same time, it had all the likeable elements of the MHA universe. This episode also proves how this franchise is way darker than its original timeline, and I love that.
