My Dress-Up Darling Episode 4 Overview

My Dress-Up Darling Episode 4 Title

My Dress-Up Darling or Sono Bisque Doll wa Koi Wo Suru in original Japanese is a romance and slice of life anime based on a popular manga written series by Shinichi Fukuda. It is being adapted into the medium of anime by Studio CloverWorks, a studio that hasn’t exactly been having the best time of its existence right about now. The studio has faced immense criticism in just the previous year for its handling of two anime properties, Wonder Egg Priority and The Promised Neverland Season 2.

Keisuke Shinohara is directing the show. He has been directly involved in the productions of various anime series in the past, including Wonder Egg Priority and Devilman: Crybaby. Click here to read our review of the third episode of the show!

My Dress-Up Darling Episode 4 Review- From Strength To Strength

Some episodes are just impossible to top, no matter how much a show tries. So much so that the series’ entire goal becomes trying to accomplish the same things as it was able to that one fateful moment. Some can, but most aren’t. There are some elite series that created several new peaks as they went along, going from strength to strength and showcasing the sheer quality and consistency that having an all-timer of a series entails. We have reached that episode for My Dress Up Darling.

It is going to be astonishingly hard for the show to top what it did this time. Everything that it did before this episode was building towards a moment in time when we all would be watching it. Every character interaction, every detail that it hinted towards, every little bit of nuance that most people didn’t even pick up, and just the sheer heart of it made this episode one for the ages. And to think that all it took was to just throw one of the characters into one of the most difficult situations they had ever been in.

Marin crying My Dress-Up Darling Episode 4

Gojo went through the proverbial trial by fire as his life turned upside down. The show evoked some great feelings of being overwhelmed by the amount of work while still trying to be the best version of yourself and not letting yourself be consumed by the tiredness. His relationship with his grandfather was explored, and you could feel his sorrow with every breath he took. My Dress Up Darling Episode 4 was a showcase of Gojo’s strength as a character and protagonist, and he passed with flying colours.

Marin continues to be the best thing on television currently, and I love how effortless it feels with her. It is almost like she is a character that writes herself and is always the best version of herself. She is not without flaws, but her positives far outweigh her negatives to a humongous degree. She was absolutely precious in this outing, in a manner that endeared her both to the audience and Gojo. The writers have managed to capture lightning in a bottle with her, and you love to see it.

The moment when Gojo completed the outfit was always going to be phenomenal, and the show managed to do it justice. To be honest, Marin looked better in her normal outfit than her cosplay, but that’s because her original character design is flawless. The soundtrack was also great here, and one would be hard-pressed to find anything wrong with this episode. It was just a fantastic time to experience and go through, and I hope that the series has many more episodes like this one on the pipeline.

Verdict

My Dress-Up Darling Episode 4 was engaging, captivating, emotional, and beautiful. It was everything this series ever had the potential of being, and it seems like it has a lot more to offer.
