Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 8 Review: To Fight For Love

Let us keep the streak of absolutely hilarious stories continuing in Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 8, as we see Rudeus face a barrage of levers. Let’s see how things go for him in this review!

Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 8 Overview

Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 8 Title

Mushoku Tensei, also known as Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation or Mushoku Tensei Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu in original Japanese, is an adventure, drama and fantasy anime based on a light novel series written by Rifujin na Magonote and illustrated by Sirotaka. This episode is also known as Mushoku Tensei Jobless Reincarnation Season 2 Episode 8 and Mushoku Tensei Isekai Ittara Honki Dasu Season 2 Episode 8.

The latest season of the anime is being directed by Hiroki Hirano, who served as an assistant director of the second part of the show’s first season. However, the studio that produces and adapts the anime remains the same, as that responsibility again falls to Studio Bind, who haven’t really done anything other than Mushoku Tensei. Rudy Catgirl Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 8

This season of Mushoku Tensei might have started out a little rocky, but with the way it is going right now, I would not be surprised if it ends up surpassing the original two parts. This entire foray into the intricacies of magic in this world through the Ranoa University of Magic has been a riveting watch, and that is with nothing substantial going on the screen at the moment. Rudeus kidnapped and tortured catgirls who broke a statue he made, and that is the level of ridiculousness we are in at the moment.

The show’s lighthearted and carefree nature has been a blast, not only because the material has been strong but because it has been a long time coming. The end of the previous season, and many episodes at the start of this one, saw Rudeus go into a depressive state that he nor the show seemed capable of overcoming. It appears that following the Man-God’s advice was the best thing possible for him, as this stint at Tanoa has breathed a new life into him as a character.

Fitz Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 8

He isn’t just a goody-two-shoes anymore, but he never was. He has dropped some pretences of that now and is a freak in public sometimes. That is some solid character development, as his being true to himself has been a huge part of his growth, and it is especially lovely to see him confide in someone for once. That is where the Sylphie becoming Fitz storyline shines the most, as it has allowed for them to be equals in this exchange of thoughts, which Rudeus needed much more than just the return of an old friend.

We saw two hilarious stories in Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 8, both featuring some sort of a connection to love and marriage. The first saw one of Rudeus’ usually standoffish seniors approach him to confess his love for Elinalise and to ask for Rudeus’ help. The deeply ironic nature of this request in Rudeus’ mind created a fantastic conflict that was hilarious to watch unfold. Elinalise is a fun character who was looking for something like this to expand upon her character and is just a bit of dumb fun. Nothing wrong with that!

The second story saw Rudeus defend the honour of his two captive beast girls as people swarmed him for their hands in marriage, and he came face to face with an actual Demon king in the process. This story was used as an excuse to demonstrate just how capable Rudeus actually was in battle and that his fame reached far and beyond what he ever imagined possible. His capabilities are greater than he credits himself, and unlike most protagonists of shows like this, his powers feel earned through years of effort. This was a lovely episode!

Verdict

Mushoku Tensei Season 2 Episode 8 was an absurd and hilarious episode that expanded upon the legend of the Quagmire and was extremely funny while doing so.
