Moving in With Malaika Episode 8 premiered on December 15, 2022, with a runtime of 23 minutes. The brand new reality show will centre around actress, model, dancer and VJ Malaika Arora. Created by Malaika herself, along with Banijay Asia, the show will give us an exclusive and up-close look at the life of the Indian celebrity.
The actress rose to fame for her appearance in the famous Bollywood song Chaiyyan Chaiyyan from the movie Dil Se.. along with Shah Rukh Khan. She has been in the public eye ever since, and her divorce from Arbaaz Khan, brother of Salmaan Khan, is one of the most talked about instances around the town. She has also been a victim of internet trolls following her dating news with Arjun Kapoor.
Hence, she has decided to take matters into her own hands and create a show that will show her true self.

The eighth episode of the show is titled ‘You Are Beautiful’ and the description reads as, “When Bharti Singh breaks down in front of Malaika, the latter decides to make a difference and embolden women to love themselves. Later, Malaika rejoices as Arhaan returns home!”

The episode starts off with Malaika Arora getting a brand deal from a company that does cosmetic surgeries. We don’t get into the details of it but it’s certain that she doesn’t like the sound of it and would never be a face of it. But it gives her another idea that revolves around the idea of body positivity.
And what better person can she find that would headline her campaign? It’s comedian Bharti Singh who has been trolled since the start of her career, not for her skill but her appearance. As a comedian, she is truly the best and does every job well. However, people find it hard to move on from how she looks or weighs and give unsolicited comments, all over the internet.
It was an emotional moment for her to express what kinds of things she reads about herself and how people compare her and her husband with elephant and ant jokes. So far the comedian has even used such self-deprecating jokes as a defence but if thousands of people send you the same thing, that too every day – it does break your spirits and self-confidence.
In the conversation, Malaika also put in how she was quite dusky as a child and would get comments from her relatives and acquaintances, comparing her with a rather fair sister, Amrita. From this conversation, the morality and etiquette of paparazzi also bring up. Although discussed very briefly, we can imagine the kind of scrutinising and intruding feeling it would be like – being haunted by them everywhere.
This episode shows how insensitive the public becomes to the people on screen and doesn’t realise the impact of their words, on someone that we only know through television. Similarly, how much as a society we worship a preconceived notion of how somebody should look or dress and hackle the ones who don’t fit into the frame.

Moving In With Malaika Episode 8: Final Thoughts
The topics discussed in the episode were quite important but it felt very shallow and just an advertisement for the Lakme campaign. It felt like calling Bharti Singh was a bit random, but it also made Malaika feel better about herself in a way, as her life is still better than hers. It didn’t really look like she could even sympathize with someone who is crying in front of her.
Rather she used it to her benefit and makes money out of it. When Bharti was introduced as one of the models, I expected others to be some other renowned people in the industry, owning up to themselves as they are. Instead, she was paired with some influencers which seem a bit disrespectful to someone like Bharti. Either they should have just used the lesser-known models & influencers and not use the talented comedian as a prop.
