The episode starts and tells the tale of Ju-won back in 1990 in Ulsan, South Korea. Ju-won, Hee-soo’s father, was called the monster among the gangsters due to his ability to regenerate and feel no pain. When they fight to take over Ulsan by asking the leader to sign the contract, Ju-won tears his stomach to prove how strong he is.

After this chaos, we see Ju-won in a hotel room, trying to survive by getting himself into accidents and claiming money from the drivers. This shows that Ju-won is reminiscing about his past. Then we’re back to the 1990 Ulsan where Ju-won realises that Gwang-jin has decided to work alongside Ulsan’s leader. Ju-won gets mad at the sight and argues. Then Gwang-jin takes Min-ki and Ju-won for a drink. He explains to Ju-won that he has decided to merge with Ulsan’s leader for money. Ju-won hates the fact that his new boss is the Ulsan leader and leaves the place.

Days pass and it’s clear that they’re avoiding Ju-won since he is loyal to Gwang-jin and not to the Ulsan leader. Meanwhile, Min-ki is promoted as the manager of the pub. He does respect Ju-won and Gwang-jin but sucks up to Ulsan leader. The scene then switches back to the hopeless Ju-won trying to survive by staying at a hotel. He comes across a woman called Umji, a coffee lady delivering to the guests in the hotel.

Ju-won is the only one who respects her, making her feel comfortable. When she sees him being hit and run, she tries to help him but he declines the offer. Then he asks the route to get back to the hotel and she guides him. But Ju-won who is bad with directions, gets stuck at a place and remembers his past again.

In the past, when Ju-won visits the pub again, he witnesses Gwang-jin calling the Ulsan leader his boss. Ju-won curses and leaves the place because he feels that calling him their boss after the damage he has caused to their people feels wrong. Min-ki calls Gwang-jin and Ju-won to their regular drinking spot to help them patch up.

When they get drunk, Ju-won and Gwang-jin pass out. It is understood that Min-ki has drugged them to get rid of them. When Ju-won wakes up, he finds himself tied and cuffed in the car seat along with the unconscious Gwang-jin. The Ulsan leader then commands his men to push the car into the river. While they keep pushing, he triggers Ju-won by telling him about Gwang-jin’s desire for the agreement and his vile nature.

This angers Ju-won but since he is unable to do anything, he looks at him angrily. The leader continues by adding that Min-ki is the one who suggested this plan since Ju-won can’t be beaten to death. When they drown the car, Ju-won breaks his fingers to get rid of the handcuff. He removes himself from the car seat and leaves Gwang-jin to die for the sins he committed.

When Ju-won swims back he notices a giant fish approaching him but letting him live by turning its back on him. To date, Ju-won’s nightmare includes this fish and he finds it hard to sleep with the lights off. After escaping from the hazard, he returns to the pub and kills the Ulsan leader. He rips off Min-ki’s mouth and leaves him alive to face the guilt.

Ju-won shakes off from his flashback and walks back to find his hotel. He comes across Umji and she wonders how he hasn’t found the hotel despite walking around for an hour. When Umji questions him, Ju-won starts crying and says, “I can’t find my way” signifying how he’s always taken the easiest path and has no idea how to survive now. Umji watches him break down and stays beside him.

In the next scene, we see Mr. Min from the Namsan agency asking Min-ki the whereabouts of Ju-won. It is understood that this is how the agency recruited Ju-won for the country’s benefits.

The episode was extremely gore and interesting. Ju-won has no clue why he is special but uses his power to get money in the wrong way. Though he beats up people, he respects his people and is loyal to them. Seeing his beloved boss sucking up to the man who beat their men, startles Ju-won. This shows that more than Gwang-jin, Ju-won was the best boss they had. However, due to Min-ki’s betrayal, everything shatters.

Nevertheless, after getting recruited by the Namsan agency, his life would have changed but we’re yet to know who is the mother of Hee-soo, why he decided to quit using his strength, and such. Maybe Umji is his future wife and probably his power would have made the bad people kill her. Either way, we’re yet to find many missing pieces to know why these super people are being hunted down.

The episode’s editing has to be appreciated. In the beginning, they showed the episode number through Ju-won’s blood on the snow and it looked very creative. Additionally, seeing Ulsan in the year 1990, the dark side of the pubs, sex workers, mafias, and such is captivating. Actor, Ryu Seung-ryong has done a great job in this episode. Seeing him beating the bad men to a pulp and also breaking down like a small child in front of Umji showed his versatile acting.
