Money Shot The Pornhub Story Trailer: Netflix’s Documentary to Unveil the Scandalous Dark Side of the Website

Netflix is all about unveiling the dark cards of everything and anything, and the same pattern will be followed for the upcoming documentary titled Money Shot The Pornhub Story. Premiering on the OTT platform this March, the docu-film is going to shed light on the sensationalised porn site, and how it garnered all the traction it did, while also demystifying the scandals associated with its name.

It’ll be interesting to see how the whole documentation pans out, especially since its all been captured by a woman’s lens, as opposed to porn videos generally being helmed by men. The Emmy-winning documentary filmmaker Suzanne Hillinger has directed this piece of work, which has been restricted to adult audiences since it refers to heavy topics like sexual violence and child abuse.

The trailer released today lets us in briefly by handing out a sneak peek of what the film will be about. Bringing everyone ranging from performers to past employees and activists on board, the documentary special will investigate the workings of the website and give us a clear picture of what it really does behind the scenes, as in some cases it even capitalises on the exploitation of very real people.

One of the interviewees even likens Pornhub to any household name, much like how the Kellogg’s brand is well known among masses. However, despite its omnipresence, there’s barely any truth to what we all know about the platform and its operations. In 2008, it gained even more attention, and eventually went on to become the “most trafficked website in the world, conservatively”.

Another interviewee holds the site accountable for profiting from sex trafficking, with kids eventually being involved in the ills conducted by it as well. Moreover, the docu-film will also seek to address the differentiation between sex work and sex trafficking and educate the audiences who have been believing the two things to be synonymous, when they are not. It’s also likely to bring the questions of gender and one’s sexual orientation into the picture as we dig deeper into the story, but we can only know the same for sure once the documented account and interviews are released on Netflix within a few weeks’ time.
