Mo Trailer: Comedian Mo Amer is Hanging Between Two Cultures In this Netflix Comedy

Mo trailer, which has been released by Netflix, is an upcoming comedy-drama series which is set to be released this month. The comedian and writer best known for stand-up specials like Mo Amer: Mohammed in Texas and Mo Amer: The Vagabond is the star of this scripted comedy series. It is a semi-autobiographical series inspired by Amer’s life as a Palestinian refugee growing up in Houston.

The heartfelt comedy is created by comedians Mo Amer and Ramy Youssef (Ramy, Mr Robot). The series is executive produced by Ravi Nandan and Hallie Sekoff for A24, Harris Danow (Little Fires Everywhere, Daisy Jones & The Six), Luvh Rakhe (Dave, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), and series is directed by Solvan “Slick” Naim (known for It’s Bruno!, Snowfall).

The official synopsis of the film reads, “In Texas, Mo straddles the line between two cultures, three languages and a pending asylum request while hustling to support his Palestinian family.” Mo Najjar is hanging in the balance between two cultures, a man who’s learning to adapt to his new world as he embarks on the path to US citizenship.

Still from Mo Trailer

He’s trying to reconcile his two cultures and three languages, all while navigating the complicated and seemingly never-ending immigration process. He loves his family and tries to provide for them even if they don’t like how he does it. His family including his resilient and spiritual mother, sister and older brother fled to Houston, Texas. Laughing the pain away, Mo learns to adapt to his new world by getting ahead in life which also comes with several setbacks.

There are said to be 8 episodes in total with a runtime of about 30 minutes. The other cast of the series includes Teresa Ruiz, Omar Elba, Farah Bsieso, Cherien Dabis, Tobe Nwigwe, Walt Roberts, Kamal Zayed and Lee Eddy. In the trailer, we see our lead getting welcomed in a house, presumably in Texas where he is greeted in the way Muslims do.

Following that we get to know that he has been selling the merch to everyone and calling it the last piece, to make money. The dilemma of removing shoes at other people’s houses or not, certainly, gives us a few chuckles (Asians can understand). It looks like a series that will lead Mo on a fun ride, where everything might fall into place, in the end.
