– Miya Biwi Aur Murder Review Does Not Contain Spoilers –
Miya Biwi Aur Murder is akin to every other comedy thriller that wants to introduce something shocking in the first episode without really trying to think too much about what it’s introducing. There’s an air of familiarity that wifts through the show’s first minutes as it tries its hand at grappling comedy and murder mystery.

First and foremost, the characters in Miya Biwi Aur Murder are rather predictable, just like its plot. Lead characters in the worst situations possible, a gangster pissed about drugs and supporting characters who are annoying as heck – it’s all things we have seen before.
Add to that some of the worst male characters we have seen in a while, it’s a recipe like no other. However, among all of them, Priya is rather interesting and I wished they had tapped more into her rather than go around in circles with everything else. Everyone except for her is one-dimensional and feels boring.

The series takes too many episodes to get past the initial shock of what happens in the first one and then never really goes anywhere. And it’s not even like Priya and Jayesh do anything interesting and to be fair, they are the most annoying people out there. They are toxic and dysfunctional and a chore to watch.
But, surprisingly, this is why their pair works – individually, they are horrible but together their toxic relationship work wonders. Priya, specifically, has the craziest ideas in such tough situations and it redefines the idea of a “bored housewife” on another level! The series also keeps on adding more and more difficulty making the situations crazier every minute.
I think if you can suspend your disbelief for a minute, Miya Biwi Aur Murder can be a delightful watch that just twists in and out for no real reason. It’s not really thrilling and it’s not trying to be – it’s like comedy of errors but with dead bodies. There’s an outpouring of melodrama that I was drawn towards, even though my brain started glitching after a while.

For those of you who want to watch something non-committal and absolutely insane, MX Player’s show might be right up your alley. However, one of the biggest problems I have with the show is that it spends too much time on one particular scene and milks it for comedy for the rest of the episode. The shtick gets old soon and you start to feel bored.
That is, until it introduces something crazier. The series, in an attempt to keep itself interesting, tries to one-up itself with the things that it introduces in the story. It’s oddly funny and lands sometimes but, as I mentioned above, unless you suspend your disbelief, there’s not much to be had from it.
Rajeev Khandelwal and Manjari Fadnnis are great in the show although their characters leave much to be desired. I wish they had more interesting things to work with and the same goes for Rushad Rana, who is just simply just… gangster and looks people up on LinkedIn. Come on. Also, the amount of swearing happening in this show is absolutely mind-blowing – NSFW warning over here!
Summing up: Miya Biwi Aur Murder

Miya Biwi Aur Murder is a thriller-comedy that is less thriller and more comedy – at least it tries to be so. It introduces several twists in order to keep things interesting but then spends too much time with one particular scene that stales your interest in it. The humour is quite cringe as well and lands on its feet only sometimes.
In the end, if you’re in the mood to watch some melodrama without much rhyme of reason, this one’s a good idea. But be warned, the brain needs to stay out for it!
Miya Biwi Aur Murder is streaming on MX Player.
