Mission: Yozakura Family Episode 18 Recap

This episode was packed with fun and entertainment as our protagonists enjoyed a well-deserved break. Taiyo begins intense training under the watchful eyes of Kyoichiro and Shinzo. He realizes the importance of mastering the Yozakura blood’s power to protect both himself and Mutsumi. Despite Kyoichiro’s disdain for his brother-in-law, he ensures Taiyo learns the basics.

The episode takes a lighter turn when Mutsumi returns with exciting news: she’s secured a free onsen trip for the family. However, Kyoichiro can’t join, much to everyone’s relief. Despite his absence, he creates chaos by threatening Taiyo not to bathe with Mutsumi. The Yozakura siblings, minus Kyoichiro, head to the onsen with Taiyo in tow.

The onsen itself is unique and frequented by underworld figures, spies, and criminals. The Yozakura family’s arrival instantly raises tension among the guests, some of whom hold grudges due to Kyoichiro’s past actions. However, the inn’s mistress steps in, enforcing the no-fighting policy.

The boys and girls enjoy their separate rooms, reminiscing about their childhood and getting into mischief. But it’s not all lighthearted; Mutsumi shares her traumatic past with Taiyo while they bathe together. The episode ends with Kyoichiro discovering them together in a bath, leading to a fierce brawl.

Mission: Yozakura Family Episode 19 Review And Recap

Mission: Yozakura Family Episode 19 Review Taiyo Searches For His Father-In-Law

This episode starts with Aoi and Inugami trying to infiltrate the new operation base of Tanpopo. Sadly, they could not pinpoint the actual location and were duped into falling into a trap where the whole warehouse got donated. No, nothing happened to them, but one thing is clear no one has any concrete information about Tanpopo.

On the other hand, we see Mutsumi wondering about her father and his words before he betrayed her. Here, we get to know that everyone is desperately searching for Tanpopo’s whereabouts and Momo’s intentions. They’re also looking into Tanpopo’s smuggling business of Hazakura, which they conduct via different trade routes. But as most of the information about them is fake, every Yozakura has been dispatched to different places to get a lead.

Taiyo also gets information about the presence of a Momo on a train, which is probably another possible smuggling route. And he was absolutely correct, but he, for some reason, could not place either Momo or Kawashita, despite them being on the same train. Not only that, but he also meets a mysterious woman called Shirai, with whom he might have more similarities than anyone else.

But who is actually the one hunted here? Is it seriously Taiyo who has managed to crack down on the location of his enemies, or he has been manipulated to walk into the enemy lair?

This episode was again intense as the Yozakura father is an enigma that we still do not know anything about. Yes, he is a part of a villainous organisation, but it always feels as if there is more to his intentions than meets the eye. It never feels like he is 100% against his children even when he has betrayed them time and time again.

Verdict

Today’s episode again showed us a very surprising side of Taiyo who is very much in love with his wife and can go to great lengths to protect her. But whether he will actually be able to manage to stay alive and protect his wife at the same time is something that we’ll have to see in the future.
