Mission: Yozakura Family Episode 17 Review Nanao's Face Revealed

Everyone except Mutsumi and Taiyo steps out to confront the attackers, with Goliath taking down many of them. Surprisingly, Kyoichiro chooses to confront someone else to retrieve the ring of the 9th Yozakura head. A fierce battle follows, during which the mysterious man activates the hibernation function of the Yozakura house, a capability exclusive to family members.

Amidst the chaos, an infiltrator cuts the power to seize Mutsumi, the new Yozakura head. In this dire situation, with no one to protect herself and Taiyo, Mutsumi makes a drastic decision to use her blood as a doping agent. The outcome of her choice is something viewers must discover for themselves.

The episode also unveils that the mysterious man is actually the father of the Yozakura children, who has betrayed them by allying with the sinister Tanpopo organization. His motives and goals remain a mystery to both the Yozakura kids and the audience. There seems to be more to his story, particularly concerning his wife’s fate. He possesses her ring, suggesting possible involvement in her death, yet he doesn’t appear hostile toward his children, showing signs of lingering care.

Mission: Yozakura Family Episode 17 Review And Recap

Mission: Yozakura Family Episode 17 Review Nanao's Face Revealed

Today’s episode begins on the day right after the whole fuss about Taiyo taking Mutsumi’s blood. He is extremely exhausted and is having severe cramps all over his body. This is why Mutsumi makes Nanao go to school with Taiyo, to support him. But Taiyo becomes concerned because of the stature of Nanao and how odd he will look while going to school with his appearance. However, what he doesn’t know is that Nanao can actually transform into a regular boy with just the help of an injection.

Once reaching school, you can see that Nanao is actually more normal than he seems. He is very friendly with his peers, and he just loves to be a part of the school. But there is one issue, because of his unstable body, he must inject himself with tranquillizers to blend in school. Not only that, but he also has a classmate in his biology club, Kitasato, towards whom he might have some sort of affection. Thus, when Nanao mentions that he should quit school to lessen the burden on himself and others, with the responsibility of stabilising his body all the time, Taiyo vehemently disagrees.

Taiyo takes it upon himself to shoot tranquillizers from every corner of the school within Nanao’s body. He will try his best to give his little brother the normal high school life that he desires so much. But things become too much for both to handle when one of his mutation pills gets swallowed by Kitasato’s pet snake, Basilisk. This leads to mayhem, which may or may not decide whether Nanao can continue to come to school or leave never to return again.

Verdict

Mission: Yozakura Family Episode 17 Review Nanao's Face Revealed

Today’s episode was much more emotional and touching. We see Nanao’s life a bit more closely and understand his problems in life. He always seemed so supportive and happy-go-lucky that it was sad to see him go through such intense situations. However, the mood was quickly transformed into comedy towards the end, which retained the original feel of the anime.
