-MasterChef India Season 7 Episode 19 Review and Recap Contains Spoilers-
After losing the team challenge in the last episode, the members of the blue team – Priyanka, Nayanjyoti, Suvarna, Sachin, Kamaldeep and Vineet had to compete against each other to get safe from elimination. Being a Republic day special, they find a tricolour pantry in front of them. The Saffron row contains all the saffron colour ingredients from pumpkin to the same coloured lentils, fruit etc. Similarly for white and green row pantries.

Also, it is a double-team challenge with a swap twist. Every time the judges will ring the gong bell, the team member has to be switched and cook. At a time only one person in the team will be cooking and together they will prepare one dish as well, also, the gong can be rung anytime and any number of times, as per the judge’s wishes.
Priyanka is paired with Nayanjyoti, Suvarna with Vineet and Kamaldeep with Sachin. To choose who will be cooking with what colour, they are presented with 3 knives that have a number on them. The team who picks number 1 will get to choose first and so on. Kamaldeep and Sachin picked number 1 and they chose green. Suvarna and Vineet were second & they chose white, leaving the third team with saffron.
They were given 60 minutes in total to cook with 2 minutes to pick the ingredients from the pantry. The contestants from the teams, who were going to cook first decided to go to the pantry – which consisted of Priyanka, Vineet and Kamaldeep. Since they were the ones to start cooking therefore the dishes they had in mind was the one the other had to make too.
Here the conflict arises between Suvarna and Vineet, who had different thought processes for their dish and were clashing over it continuously. So much so, Chef Ranveer had to come and calm them down to communicate effectively and not confuse by constant bickering. There were a few hiccups with Kamaldeep and Sachin too, where their broccoli burnt and had to be thrown.
Finally, the dishes were presented to the judges after 60 minutes, starting with Suvarna and Vineet. They made roulade with galouti chicken filling and radish thecha. They tried to give it a tricolour but judges commented that they should have stuck to their opted colour and made everything white, especially the thecha. Also, their dish lacked a combination of balanced flavours and their differences were visible in taste as well.

Next Kamaldeep and Sachin presented rasam rice, where rasam was made with green apple and instead of rice, they used finely chopped broccoli. To add texture they put up banana crisps. The judges commented that there was no innovation in their dish, also they were sternly told not to waste food in the kitchen. The taste of rasam was appreciated by Chef Garima.
Lastly, Priyanka and Nayanjyoti served a dish called Kumro chingri made with the ingredients available to them. They had cooked prawns on a stick with pumpkin mash and orange, passion fruit salad. Their decision to make a savoury instead of a dessert (which they are masters of) was questioned by the judges. However, they aced the challenge with proper presentation as well as amazing taste.
Final Thoughts: MasterChef India Season 7 Episode 19
Therefore, Priyanka and Nayanjyoti were given the dish of the day and were saved from the elimination round tomorrow. While cooking, they barely have much screen time since they didn’t have much conflict and that helped in making a good dish. While the teams which had too much conflict landed themselves in the eliminations.

I think Suvarna & Vineet’s bad teamwork started in the last level challenge where the contestants had to swap in between cooking. Then also, she didn’t taste her ingredients and blamed Vineet for not telling her. This time as well, she definitely didn’t want to make anything that he would have suggested and wanted him to follow her instructions and vice versa. Both of them failed to get out of their comfort zone and make a dish that was based on the ingredients in front of them.
Similarly in Kamaldeep and Sachin’s case, they wanted to show how much of a better cook they are, instead of working as a team. If both of them are here then there’s no doubt about their cooking skills but the issue here is putting heads together, keeping the egos aside and making one dish that resonates with both of them.
