In today’s episode, the remaining six contestants have to go through the pressure test and one of them will be eliminated from the competition. For this test, they are seen in black aprons instead of regular white aprons and even there’s a seriousness in the air, as they have to prove their worth.

The challenge for them is to replicate two dishes that are made by the top chefs of the country, aka the two Judges. Chef Vikas has created a dish called ‘Durian ka Taj’, which is comprised of coconut sponge, durian and lime mousse with a raspberry disc at the bottom and coconut crumble with cream, as well as a bonbon.
Chef Ranveer has created a dish called ‘Tyohar’ which literally means festival as he celebrates each ingredient with detail. It comprises a crayfish which is poached in coconut water, glazed again with a herb crust, and uses a Meghalayan turmeric, eggless mayo remoulade, potato shred and bamboo rice salad with a Vietnamese spring roll.
The contestants have to replicate the dishes exactly from presentation to taste. Santa, Sachin and Yashu were asked to make Chef Ranveer’s dish, while Priyanka, Vineet and Urmila baa had to make Chef Vikas’s dish. During the cooking process, some contestants were having difficulty making the eggless mayo and it was heartwarming to see that they were helping each other, despite it being a competition for survival.
Especially Urmila Baa was not able to grasp the recipe and work accordingly, wherein Priyanka stepped in and Sachin helped others in making the mayo. After some struggle, eventually, the dishes were completed and took the shape they were hoping for. The criteria for judging the dishes were TRP: Taste, Replica, and Presentation.
Priyanka was called in first and clearly, her dish’s presentation was not exact, due to the durian wing being broken. However, in terms of taste, it was really balanced, even though the cake and mousse proportions were not the same. Secondly, Urmila Baa presented her dish but had many missing elements. Similarly, in taste it was delicious.

Then Sachin presented the crayfish dish which was grossly overcooked, as quoted by Chef Garima but all the elements were present aptly. Followed by Vineet, who captured all the details of the durian dish perfectly and was noticed by the judges as well. Santa’s dish was also almost close to the original but the elements like turmeric and mayo were not in proportion.
Lastly, Yashu’s dish lacked some elements and was overcooked, the chefs also mentioned that it wasn’t on par with taste as well. The judges commended the efforts made by the contestants as replication is indeed more difficult than cooking up an original dish.
Final Thoughts: MasterChef India Season 7 Episode 10
Out of all the six dished, Vineet’s durian dessert won the dish of the day, for having all the details and taste. He even received a knife from Chef Ranveer, which is the highest honour. However, the pressure test wasn’t easy for Urmila Baa and thus she was eliminated from the competition.
The only question in my mind was how the contestants were segregated to choose who will cook which dish. Either it should have been a random pick or letting the contestants choose, what they want to cook. I am sure some would swap the places like Urmila Baa might have been able to create the whole dish if she was given the crayfish rather than a detailed dessert.
