Echo 3 Episode 10: Heat

The episode shows Amber and her struggles to return to normalcy. She looks noticeably distressed, unable to fathom the new atmosphere and surroundings. Withdrawal symptoms started seeping in from the drugs she was forcibly fed during the confinement. Prince tries to convince her to continue her daily activities, but she refuses to listen and continues to push him away.

Meanwhile, Violeta visits the trio for one last time. She meets Amber and tries to relate to her situation as a former kidnapping victim. While in a conversation, Amber unknowingly reveals that the rescue mission turned into a massacre and countless lives were lost. When questioned, Bambi and Prince completely deny it and stick to the narrative that Colombian soldiers started the war.

Violeta does not stop her search for the truth. She meets the Colombian President and demands answers. It is finally established that the government will side with the Americans because the incoming war with Venezuela will economically benefit them. On the other hand, Amber flees away from their hiding spot to explore the town.

Prince and Bambi relentlessly search for her everywhere, and after many failed attempts, Prince finds her. The sibling opens up to each other, and during that process, Amber confesses that she does not plan on returning to the U.S.A. Confused, Bambi elaborately explains the number of sacrifices her husband has made to ensure her safety.

Finally, Amber agrees to join them, and they start their journey to freedom. Mitch buys a speedboat and waits for them at the harbour, but the trio are yet again met with multiple obstacles. The Colombian military locates and tries to capture them. After much difficulty and more dead soldiers, they finally meet Mitch and successfully escape.

Conflicts are still prevalent between Amber and Prince. In an emotional speech, he expresses his true feelings for her and how much she means to him, but Amber is still shaken by the previous events. The four of them sail off on the boat to their country with smiles, and the episode ends on that note.

Echo 3 Episode 10 Review

This episode is arguably the most intense and meaningful. The story is extremely conflicting and layered, which will make the viewer question a lot of things. The creators maintained to showcase the gritty ground reality of the aftermath of a war. The plot does not have a hero but multiple victims and survivors who have to live with the consequences for the rest of their lives. It did not delve deep into the lives of the affected but provided an adequate overview.

Furthermore, the plot is engaging and will be relatable to the audience. The scenes involving gunfights were tense and done seamlessly. The inclusion of high-tech equipment also played a huge role in elevating the story. The cinematography and the scenic locations also added to the storytelling process.

Jessica Ann Collins stole the show with her convincing performance. Her depiction of a survivor was on point and will deeply touch the audience. However, the most memorable performance is delivered by Martina Gusmán. Her screen time is less, but the impact is massive. Michiel Huisman also did a solid job in the final episode.
