MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 13 Recap: Fast and Fancy

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 13 is called ‘Curtis Stone Service Challenge – Fast and Fancy’. Judges Andy Allen, Melissa Leong, Jock Zonfrillo and Curtis, explain the rules to the contestants. There are two cloches kept in the garden area. Under the cloche, there’s one ingredient place and whoever picks it up has to hero it in their dish. The Fans get pork, and the Favourites have her chicken.

Fans and Favourites are divided into 4 groups each. Two groups have to cook two different Fast dishes, and the remaining two from each team has to cook Fancy dishes. The cooks have to make 40 Fast dishes and 40 Fancy dishes for 80 diners. The cooks will get 2 hours and 30 minutes to prepare these different dishes. The Fans and Favourite side cooks will cook the Fast food in the garden area. The Fancy food team will cook their dishes in the kitchen.

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 13 Recap Contains No Spoilers

From the Fans, the two Fast food teams are – Harry, Melani and Jenn and Matt and Daniel. Harry, Melani, and Jenn cook Pork larb lettuce cups with kohlrabi. Matt and Daniel’s fast dish is salad and sticky pork ribs with roasted pineapples. The judges enjoyed the salad, but the pork ribs weren’t up to the mark. For Fancy food, Billie joins the Fans team to balance out the cooks.

The Fancy food cooked by Fans is Pork belly with carrot and apricot puree and grilled fennel. Judges found their Fancy dish quite fancy, but it wasn’t a great dish.

As Fast food dishes, the two teams from the Favourites side cook Chicken shawarma and Korean fried wings. Julie, Sarah and Mindy made the shawarma and John and Alvin prepared the fried wings. The judges loved both the fast-food dishes. Sashi, Tommy, Aldo, Christina and Michael cooked Redang Roasted Chicken with coconut and carrot puree. The plating of their dish wasn’t fancy enough but tasted very delicious. Judges called it the dish of the day.

As both the Fast food dishes and the Fancy dish from the Favourites side were better than the Fans, they made it to the immunity Challenge. The contestants include – Sashi, Tommy, Alvin, John, Mindy, Julie, Sarah, Aldo, Michael, and Christina.

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 13 Recap: Final Thoughts

The Fast and Fancy cook challenge in MasterChef Australia is always fun to watch. Both the teams gave their best. But the Favourites knew what they wanted to bring on the plate and were confident about their dishes from the start. No wonder, they made it to the immunity challenge.
