MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 10 Recap: It’s French Food Time!

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 10 was a service challenge instead of elimination. Jock Zonfrillo wasn’t present as the judge was not well. Judges Andy Allen and Melissa Leong were joined by Shannon Bennett for the French Service Challenge. Of the 22 contestants, Tommy was ill, so he wasn’t a part of the challenge. As service challenge requires teams, Julie from Favourites didn’t cook to balance the teams.

The Fans and Favourites were divided into a group of 3 each and had to cook classic French entree, main course and dessert. The group from the Fans and Favourites that fail to make a good dish will have to face the Mystery Box Challenge. The contestants get 2 hours to cook food for the service challenge.

For the entree, from the Fans, Max, Ali, Matt and Jenn made Steak Tartare, Crispy Potato, Confit Yolk, and plenty of Truffle for an entree. The judges loved the dish, which had very few flaws. Harry, Keyma and Daniel made their main course. The dish was Barramundi with lemon and thyme en papillote, Pomme puree and Green and white beans w anchovy tarragon dressing. Melissa and Andy loved every bit of their French main course dish.

For dessert, Melanie, Montana and Steph came together from the Fans. The trio served Chocolate cremeux and cherries. It was the dish of the day, and Melissa and Andy only had good things to say about it.

Coming to the Favourites, their entree Confit Salmon with Herb Beurre Blanc was cooked by Aldo, Michael and Sarah. Melissa and Andy praised the dish highly and enjoyed every bite of the fish. For the main course, Sashi, Miloni and Mindy came together and served Lamb Navarin with seasonal vegetables. Their dish was tasty, but the seasoning could’ve been better.

John, Billie and Alvin made the dessert for Favourites called Petit Four of Macaron, Pâte à Choux and Tarte au Citron. Their desserts were lip-smacking, but the choux cream had a runny consistency.

MasterChef Australia Season 14 Episode 10‘s French Service Challenge was won by the Fans’ main course and desert team. The team that cooked the entree from the Favourites won the service challenge. The contestants to face the Mystery Box Challenge are Julie, Tommy, Sashi, Miloni, Mindy, Ali, Jenn, John, Max, and Matt.
