Loki Season 2 Episode 2 Recap

Loki and Mobius travel to London in the Sacred Timeline of 1977 to look for Sylvie. Loki believes that Sylvie is not here as it’s too peaceful. But Mobius tells him that they got the Hunter X-5’s Tempad signal here before it went dark. So there is a possibility. They arrive at a theatre where a film screening called ‘Zaniac’ is happening. It turns out X-5 is Brad Wolfe, the movie’s actor, and Mobius believes he’s undercover.

Mobius stands in the line of reporters and asks X-5 if there will be Zaniac 2. X-5 recognises him, hugs him, and tells others he used to work for him. X-5 tells Loki and Mobius that he has a lot to tell them. But he suddenly runs away but ends up in a lane full of thugs. He tries to attack one of the goons, but Loki reaches there and plays his tricks. X-5 tells Lokius that he didn’t do anything wrong.

Hunter X-5 is brought back to the TVA. They take his fancy TemPad to OB. OB is working on a retrofit device to handle all the new branches. When Loki and Mobius ask him to look at the Tempad, he asks if it’s a higher priority than preventing the Loom. OB gives them a book that has everything mentioned about the TemPad.

Hunter B-15 asked Casey if there was any trace of Renslayer’s TemPad. Casey informs that there’s no update, and as Miss Minutes is down, the analysts are running traces manually. It’s a tough task because of extra branches coming up. Casey finds out that Renslayer erased the data from her TemPad, but he figured out to whom she sent the last message. Loki and Mobius are working to figure out information inside X-5’s TemPad.

Casey informs them that Miss Minutes is helping Renslayer. Loki tells them that when he was in the past, he heard a conversation between Renslayer and He Who Remains. The conversation sounded like they were partners. Casey tells them that he’ll keep searching where the two are. Casey looks at X-5’s Tempad and tells them that it doesn’t block any trackers. He will work on it to find out more.

Loki, Mobius and B-15 interrogate Brad, aka X-5. They ask him what he was doing in the Sacred Timeline and what he did to the TemPad. Brad tells them that it was B-15 who said they all have their lives outside TVA, and that’s what he was doing, by being Bradley and making movies. Loki tells him that there are lives at stake. X-5 hits back at Loki, saying he’s trying to make up for all the terrible things he did in his life.

X-5 tells Loki that everything he and Sylvie did to “help” only made things worse. X-5 has read Loki’s file and calls him the problem. He tries to provoke Loki and tells him that he’s a villain and he’s good at it, and that’s what he should do. Loki agrees with X-5 that he has done many terrible things and has always been a loser. The God of Mischief scares X-5 with his real avatar and asks him – Where is Sylvie? Brad tells Loki that he’s very obsessed with Sylvie. Mobius tells Brad that if he answers their questions, he will get a chance to return and live his life.

Brad tells them that none of this is real. He tells Mobius that the TVA is not his real home and Mobius is not his real name. X-5 tries to get into their head, which triggers Mobius, who attacks him. B-15 and Loki take Mobius out of there and are worried about his reaction. Loki and Mobius calm themselves by eating a Key Lime pie at the canteen. Mobius confesses that he did lose his cool at X-5 in the interrogation room.

Loki comforts Mobius by telling him he held New York City hostage with an alien army when he was upset with his father and brother. He tells Mobius that sometimes their emotions get ahead of them. Loki asks Mobius if he ever felt like visiting the timeline to see how his life would’ve been if TVA hadn’t kidnapped him. Mobius says that the TVA is the only life he knows and never considered looking for anything else.

Mobius tells Loki that X-5 is a very good hunter and that he must have found Sylvie. But he must not have turned her in because he enjoyed his life as movie star Bradley. Mobius suggests the God of Mischief to pull some tricks to get answers from X-5. OB enters the Loom to use the retrofit device to calm the branches. But he fails to get access to the machine. Loki and Mobius visit X-5, aka Brad, again to seek answers about Sylvie. They get the torture machine. Loki locks out Mobius and deals with X-5 alone.

Loki and Mobius leave with him to find Sylvie.

B-15 and Casey come down to meet OB, who tells them they will all die as the blast doors aren’t opening. Casey asks if he tried the C-12 bypass pathway, and OB tells him that it won’t work as he wrote it. Casey has a fan moment as he meets Oruboros, who wrote the TVA guidebook. OB tells them that the containment doors are locked, and only the person who created them can open them with the live scan of their temporal aura. Sadly, that person is He Who Remains, and he’s dead. They all are stuck without Miss Minutes’ help to override the lock.
