Kevin Feige on Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, “Frightening Side of the Multiverse”

We are just 2 weeks away from the release of Marvel’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Directed by Sam Raimi, the film stars Benedict Cumberbatch as Stephen/Doctor Strange, Elizabeth Olsen as Wanda/Scarlet Witch and Benedict Wong and Wong. The film will finally explore the multiverse more deeply in the MCU. The makers have teased that the story has a horror touch to it. Kevin Feige, Marvel President and producer, talked about the film and Raimi.

In a video shared by Marvel called ‘A Mind-Bending Vision Featurette’, Feige says, “Sam Raimi’s Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness that is a dream come true. That was always where we were headed with the sequel to Doctor Strange, knowing that we wanted to explore the mind-bending, frightening side of the Multiverse.”

Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen also praise the Spider-Man director. Cumberbatch says, “Sam is such a lovely human being and obviously his standing in this industry and this genre in particular is legendary, as it should be.”

Director Sam Raimi also talks about getting a call from Marvel and directing such an important film from MCU’s Phase 4. Sam shares, “I got a call from my agent saying that Kevin Feige and the Marvel team were looking for a director for the new Doctor Strange movie. I was a big fan of the first one. It was really intelligent and interesting. So, when that offer came in, I thought this would be a really good challenge.”

“Telling the story was such a gigantic endeavour. There’s a lot of dimensionalised visuals that we use in telling that story,” states the director.
