Kammattam Ending Explained: In this Zee5 Malayalam crime thriller series, Detective Antonio George finds himself in the midst of investigating a huge financial scam when he starts to dig deeper into Samuel’s hit-and-run case.

When Samuel Umman is killed in a motor accident, Inspector Antonio George immediately smells foul play. He immediately dives into investigating the death and realises that Shaji has something to do with Antonio’s death. Although he’s absconding, he and his team start to track him. They come up empty-handed at his house and eventually go to meet Kunjumol, a woman whom the local men frequent. She denies meeting Shaji, but they find incriminating evidence, pointing to their frequent correspondence.

With no other option, she tells them about the gold chain that Shaji had gifted her, which she has already pawned. They finally get their hands on the chain and then speak to Esther, Samuel’s daughter, who tells them that her phone was stolen during the time her father died. Raising that the person who stole Esther’s phone must have been waiting for Samuel at the accident spot and tried to figure out their relationship with Shaji as well.

Later, Antonio meets Advocate Jayaprakash and asks him further about the calls that he got the night that they met, and he tells him that he did, but isn’t able to give anything more. In a shocking turn of events, another body is found in Parakulam, and it turns out to be Shaji’s. With the mystery getting deeper, the team get to work and figures out that there was another person with Shaji during Samuel’s murder. They further find the owner of the bike, Satheesh, who was Shaji’s prisonmate.

Following the bike’s trail, they find out that the person with Shaji was Francis, also known as Sreekumar. Now with a solid trail, they arrive at Francis’s house, but are unable to nab him there. However, he does get to know from Samuel’s wife that there was an outstanding loan against Samuel that she was unaware of, but she swears that it’s not possible. Antonio asks her to give a written complaint and promises to look into it. But the bank tells him that there’s proof of the family taking the loan and that they are simply refusing to pay it back now.

Who killed Samuel?

As the investigation proceeds, the police pick up Sarath, a bank employee, and question him regarding the loan. Sarath tells them that Francis had stolen Samuel’s land papers to get a loan for IVF treatment. When Samuel started to have doubts about everything, Francis got scared and killed Samuel, and that’s when Sarath tells him about Francis working with Shaji in this whole scheme. When Shaji started to blackmail them, Francis killed him as well.

However, Antonio knows that Francis couldn’t lift a heavy weight that night due to his shoulder being dislocated and asks for the name of the real person whom he’s trying to save. With nowhere to go, Sarath spills the beans about Pappan being a part of the scheme as well.

Why was Samuel killed?

All of this was a part of a bigger scheme that the board members of Aryavattom Cooperative Bank were taking part in, including Pappan, Vijayanpillai and President Raghothaman. Among the many illegal things they have done, taking a fraudulent loan against Samuel’s property was the riskiest thing that they have done, although the commissions were quite low. However, this time around, a fight broke out among the members after some were unhappy with how the money was being distributed. Moreover, Samuel was now aware of the loan, and the members were in fear of being in trouble if he created a ruckus.

However, when Francis, too, starts to have doubts after the murders, that’s when things start to go out of hand. However, Antonio isn’t convinced, and that’s when he tells him about the real reason for all of this crime – Sarath had recently gotten a job with Ebin Samuel’s help in the UK, for which he had applied for a passport. However, the trail ends there with one name coming out clearly – Ebin.

Who is the real culprit?

Through their investigation, the police start to suspect that Ebin had something to do with this whole scam. With him absconding, they realise that Ebin had every opportunity to spy on Francis when he came home, as his house was just beside their rubber plantation. Checking the CCTV further, they find out that there was a truck that seemed suspicious, along with Ebin’s car, and they seemed to be moving in the same direction at the same time.

From truck driver Vibeesh, they get Praveen’s name, and eventually stumble upon Jameskutty, who tells them that the two changed vehicles at his place and went out in something else to a godown a few kilometres away. They eventually pick Francis up from a lodge near the godown, and he finally spills the beans. As it turns out, it wasn’t Ebin, but Francis who had Samuel killed. But that isn’t all…

What was the real reason Francis killed Samuel?

Francis asked Samuel for money for the IVF treatment, but was denied. Although he was going to give up, it turns out that Ebin made a plan to get money out of his father, forging signatures and giving Francis all the property papers. However, Ebin eventually screwed him over, and he took out another fraudulent loan with Praveen with papers for the Mary Martha construction company. On top of that, Francis stole money from Ebin as well, and didn’t deposit the money for the loan EMI. Incensed, Ebin kidnapped Francis with plans to murder him, but instead was killed at Francis’s hands.

Francis eventually asked Praveen to help him move Ebin’s body, and they got rid of it at the godown together. The police find evidence at the godown and eventually, the accused are sent to prison while the governing body of the cooperative bank is dismissed.
