Kaiju No 8 Episode 3 Review: Kafka Might Fail His Exams

Kaiju No 8 Episode 3 Review: A new action, Sci-Fi anime is here, and we are absolutely thrilled about it. Let us see how the third episode of this brand-new series went.

Kaiju No. 8 Overview

Kaiju No. 8 stands out as a remarkable manga by the skilled Matsumoto Naoya. Taking the role for the anime adaptation are directors Miya Shigeyuki and Kamiya Tomomi, while scriptwriting duties and series composition fall under the capable hands of Ookouchi Ichirou. Gou Fumiyuki, known for his work on titles like Blue Lock, Mieruko-chan, and Araburu Kisetsu no Otome-domo yo, assumes the role of music director. Bringing the visuals to life is Production I.G, renowned for their work on series such as Haikyuu!! and Kuroko no Basket.

In terms of the songs, the opening theme “Abyss” is performed by YUNGBLUD, adding a distinctive energy to the series. Meanwhile, the closing theme “Nobody” comes from OneRepublic, perfectly complementing the anime.

Episode 3 of Kaiju No. 8 can also be called the 3rd episode of Kaijuu 8-gou (怪獣8号).

I have tried my best to keep the review as spoiler-free as possible, but there are certain elements that I had to mention to give proper feedback.

Kaiju No 8 Episode 3 Review: A New Prodigy

Kaiju No. 8 Episode 3 Review Kafka Might Fail His Exams

Today’s episode was pretty frustrating, to be honest, as all we see are developments and not a proper conclusion. It is time for the second round of the Defence Force entrance examination and right off the bat, Kafka meets this year’s prodigy Kikoru, who is the top candidate to become a Defence Force member. She hails from a very prestigious family and killing Kaiju monsters is something that she is very well accustomed to. In such a scenario, Kafka puts a brave act in front of her and declares that he will pass the exam. But all his bravado comes crashing down as he quickly understands how useless he is in the exams.

The age of 30 is not a joke and it is finally catching up to his dreams. Even though he is great at cleaning Kaiju’s remains, his body is not fit at all and even running at a fast pace is a chore for him. Kafka is so bad with his stamina tests that he barely succeeds in not coming in the last position. However, he will not be able to use his Kaiju powers as well because of his lack of control over his powers. Plus, he also believes that it will be cheating on his part if he uses his supernatural abilities, here.

He’s also encouraged by his friend to pass the exam on his own merit because if by chance Kafka fails to maintain his Kaiju powers evenly, he will be immediately killed. But all his positivity vanishes the moment the second part of today’s test begins. At first, Kafka thinks that they might get cleaning duty of Kaiju bodies and he is happy with it but then finds out that he will have to neutralise Kaijus with the help of a specially developed suit that can extract powers from an individual. How much power the suit extracts from Kafka is something that I would love to keep a secret and urge you guys to find out yourselves.

Verdict

Kaiju No. 8 Episode 3 Review Kafka Might Fail His Exams

This episode was definitely interesting but at the same time, it was hard to watch, as Kafka fails at everything, miserably. And the fact that he is the most powerful person there, does not help the case at all. You feel frustrated as to why he’s not just using his powers without caring bout being found out anyway, but obviously, that is not something that should happen. But yes Kafka will definitely not give up so soon, and I’m pretty sure the next episode will be absolutely crazy.
