Idol I Episode 8 Recap

Today’s episode begins with a shocking revelation: Jae-hee has been hospitalised as he wanted to commit suicide, and apart from that, he also left a note confessing to the murder of Woo-seong. This is obviously great for Ra-ik, who now will have a solid alibi for himself, but at the same time, the mystery surrounding the whole thing makes Jae-hee’s accident very suspicious.

He called a number of people before he committed his supposed suicide, and one of them was Se-na. Though she did not pick up the call, he left a voice message for her claiming that on the day Woo-seong was killed, Jae-hee tried to call him, and Woo-seong’s phone rang in the garden. Se-na obviously goes to that place to investigate. But that is not all, Byung-gyun is getting pressured by his father to design the whole case in a way that would benefit him.

The weight of such a huge turmoil is too much for Ra-ik, who is on the verge of losing 2 bandmates. After having a tumultuous night, he reached out to Se-na, who brought him to her home and even took care of him. After waking up, they discuss the absurdity of the entire situation as Ra-ik believes that Jae-hee cannot do something like that. On the other hand, the CEO of Ra-ik’s company comes up with this bizarre idea that this is the right time for Ra-ik to make his comeback because he’s being considered a victim now.

Both Ra-ik and Se-na go to the place of the accident to investigate, and they conclude that the situation is really weird. First of all, if Jae-hee really wanted to kill himself, he would have driven the car in a different way, which he did not. Later, they went to the festival where the Gold Boys did their very first performance in front of everyone. Se-na was also present here, and she was one of the first people to cheer them up.

Following this, they also spend some time at the park at night, and they both come closer emotionally. While conversing, Ra-ik asks Se-na why she liked them, specifically him, so much. Though she downplays it, he finally lets her know that he found out about the red cap, confirming that he remembers her. Here, he recalls his troubled past and how, on that very day, he too was miserable. Then the mood becomes very romantic, and they might have even kissed had they not been stopped by the security guard.

But the romantic tone does not last for long as we quickly dive into the mystery element. New information comes out as a hotel staff member had heard Jae-hee talking about his CEO very loudly, and he lets Se-na and Ra-ik know of this. They then go to the CEO and confront him. Surprisingly, rather than being flustered, the CEO asks Ra-ik whether he is ready for the truth.

Idol I Episode 8 Review

This episode makes it clear that Ra-ik harbors feelings for Se-na that go beyond friendship. Now that he knows she has been by his side from the very beginning, he begins to express his feelings far more openly. I genuinely loved that element.
