I Wanna Dance With Somebody Trailer: Whitney Houston’s Trailblazing Story of Passion and Betrayal

I Wanna Dance With Somebody Trailer unveils the first look at the biographical film based on the life of the legendary singer, Whitney Houston. Directed by Kasi Lemmons, written by Academy Awar nominee Anthony McCarten, and produced by legendary music executive Clive Davis. The film is a no-holds-barred portrait of the complex and multifaceted woman behind The Voice.

The description on the trailer reads, “From New Jersey choir girl to one of the best-selling and most awarded recording artists of all time, audiences are taken on an inspirational, poignant—and so emotional—journey through Houston’s trailblazing life and career, with show-stopping performances and a soundtrack of the icon’s most beloved hits as you’ve never heard them before. Don’t you wanna dance?”

The stellar cast of the film includes Naomi Ackie as Whitney Houston, Ali Asghar Shah as Ali – Whitney Houston’s friend, Stanley Tucci as Clive Davis – record producer, Ashton Sanders as Bobby Brown, Tamara Tunie as Cissy Houston (mother), Nafessa Williams as Robyn Crawford (Whitney’s friend and assistant) and Clarke Peters as John Houston (father).

The film will show the joyous, emotional, heartbreaking celebration of the life and music of Whitney Houston, one of the greatest female R&B pop vocalists of all time. Tracking her journey from obscurity to musical superstardom. The trailer shows how she began singing in church as a child and became a background vocalist while in high school.

With the help of record producer Clive Davis, she released her debut album, which instantly put up on the list of talented singers. The film explores how she was questioned about her music not being ‘black’ enough and she ends it all by saying that she sings, what she wants to sing. There are no colours in the music and it definitely dont have any boundaries or rules that you should follow.

From a spectacular singing career to getting married and becoming a mother, she had it all – until her own family betrayed her trust. But will take the reigns of her life in her hand and we will always love the songs that the extraordinary artist created.
