Hunger Cast

Chutimon Chuengcharoensukying and Nopachai Jayanama lead the story as Aoy and Chef Paul respectively. In addition to that, Gunn Svasti, Bhumibhat Thavornsiri, Varit Leesavan, Prachan Vong-uthaiphan, Ratchawat Vichianrat, Pattarawit Junthai and others are also acting in the film.

Hunger Storyline/Plot

While most narratives about cooking food centre around cooking with love, the upcoming Thai film completely disrupts this ideal. Aoy, who runs her family business at a local stir-fried noodles joint, is presented with the opportunity to make it big in the culinary industry. The next chapter of her life brings her to join the leading titular team in the game, under the guidance of Chef Paul.

On being asked the reason of her doing so, she turns to her desire of being special and extraordinary in the kitchen. Chef Paul pays grave attention to every intricate move made while preparing a dish, and so begins Aoy’s journey in the new setting. The detail that goes into the artful process drives her to the edge when she realises that this kitchen is governed under Paul’s dictatorship.

Hunger

Her training leads her to distinguish and learn more and more about the social divide between different classes in the hierarchy, and how each one of them view the idea of food and hunger differently. The whole scenario opens up her eyes to how being passionate about something can become all about power politics, abuse, control and obsession. Wanting to become “special” isn’t merely about one’s ambitions in life anymore, and that’s where the fine-dining industry draws the dark line between itself and other small players in the game.
