The episode starts with Sophie’s friends teasing her for her inability to drive. Since she had a bad cab experience, Sophie fears driving a car. When she speaks of her trauma, each of the friends starts sharing their failed accomplishments despite them trying hard for it. Valentina says that she can’t drive a car, and Ellen shares how she wishes to express anger to her colleague Rhonda who intrudes in her personal life. Charlie opens up about his inability to shave independently and that Ellen shaves it for him.

Sid says he can’t chug a beer down but can only sip and drink. Jesse reveals that he can’t do vertical hooping, which he has always dreamt about. Sid then proposes “rewardishment” and states that all of them must try to overcome their fears within 48 hours to get a reward. If not, they will get a punishment of drinking from a nasty mat with drippings. With that, the friends depart to finish the tasks.

Ellen and Valentina go to a driving school, but the latter realises she has a vision problem. Valentina decides to try contact lenses as she dislikes wearing glasses but still dislikes the idea. Charlie tries to shave his leg before his face but injures himself. Sid struggles to chug a beer while Jesse fails in vertical hooping.

When Sophie’s driving instructor gets a heart attack, her task also stops. On the other hand, Ellen tries to confront Rhonda but mutes herself even when the colleague brings a pet snake to the office. Since Sophie’s instructor leaves, Jesse tries to teach her to drive. After the class, both talk about Jesse’s hooping wish, and the latter shows her a childhood video of him to her. Then a notification from a dating app pops up, making Sophie uncomfortable. Jesse apologises, and they both end up in an awkward moment.

How I Met Your Father Season 2 Episode 8 Ending

After Charlie ends up in the hospital, he learns that until he overcomes his fear of wounding himself again he won’t be able to shave his hair. In the same hospital, when another patient awaits his surgery, Charlie helps him by carefully shaving the patient’s chest region without affecting him. Charlie accomplishes his mission. Then to help Sid drink beer, he first makes Sid drink juice mixed with pepper. This makes Sid struggle with the spice, so he chugs down the beer instantly, making him finish his task.

Charlie puts the lenses on Valentina’s eyes, and it causes irritation due to the pepper. This makes Valentine decide that she will wear contact lenses by herself. Ellen takes Jesse to her office to practise expressing her anger. Just then, Rhonda’s snake bites Jesse making Ellen shout at Rhonda as she loves her brother. Eventually, Ellen wins too. As Sophie feels safe around Jesse, the former drives the car.

Finally, Jesse alone is left without finishing his task. He reveals that his mother never showed up during his vertical hooping performance. After hearing about his trauma, Sophie says they all are his family, pushing Jesse to complete the task. While the gang finishes the task, they fail the deadline. Hence, without any excuses, they all drink from the nasty mat and fall sick.

Final Thoughts

Sophie and Jesse definitely have feelings for each other. When Sophie gets unsettled with the dating notification, Jesse apologises. If they were over each other, neither of them would have felt such a way. So there is a chance of Jesse and Sophie getting back together, but we’re still unsure since Ian, Charlie, Drew and Sid are all possible matches too.

How I Met Your Father season 2 is now streaming on Hulu and Disney+ Hotstar.
