House of the Dragon Episode 2: When is it Releasing? What to Expect?

House of the Dragon Episode 2 will be coming out this weekend and viewers are eager to know what happens next in the House of Targaryen. A prequel to the Game of Thrones series, it is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood. Martin and Ryan Condal serve as co-creators of the series. Miguel Sapochnik and Condal are showrunners.

The cast introduces in the series includes, Paddy Considine as King Viserys I Targaryen, Milly Alcock as Young Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Emily Carey as young Lady Alicent Hightower, Rhys Ifans as Ser Otto Hightower, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Velaryon, and Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole.

In the first episode, titled ‘The Heirs of the Dragon‘ King Viserys hosts a tournament to celebrate the birth of his second child. However, it ended up in an unfortunate fate with his wife dying during childbirth and soon after the newborn also passed away. Meanwhile, Princess Rhaenyra welcomes her uncle Daemon back to the Red Keep, who wishes to take the Iron throne by any means.

When is House of the Dragon Episode 2 Releasing?

The second episode of House of the Dragon is scheduled to release on Sunday, August 28 on HBO at 6 PM PT but will be available on HBO Max at 9 PM ET. It is also streaming on Disney+ Hotstar for Indian viewers and will be released at 6:30 AM IST on 29 August. Much like the first episode, the upcoming episode’s runtime will be around 1 hour.

By the end of episode 1, we saw that Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen is announced as the heir to the Iron Throne, becoming the first female to be chosen as heir. This will certainly not sit well with Princess Rhaenys Targaryen now a Velaryon since she is wife to Lord Corlys Velaryon and ‘The Queen Who Never Was’ as King Viserys was chosen over her.

Also, Prince Daemon was celebrating the death of the newborn baby as he once again becomes the contender for the throne. But his actions fall heavy on him, as it creates a conflict between the brothers and ended up with Rhaenyra being chosen for the throne. Will it create conflict between the uncle and niece as well and will she become his next target?

We also saw Alicent Hightower making moves on the King after his wife’s death, on his father’s orders. That could create a rift in her friendship with Rhaenyra and might be a hurdle in her path to the throne. The creators also released a trailer to show what we can expect in the weeks ahead and there’s a lot happening which you can read about in our breakdown article, here.
