Hotel Costiera Review
In this Prime Video series, a handsome ex-marine with devilish charms and incredible presence of mind finds himself trying to solve the owner’s daughter’s disappearance as well as some eccentric problems that the hotel’s guests bring forth. The series is light-hearted and uncomplicated, and is perfect for anyone who is looking for something enjoyable to watch without thinking too much.
There aren’t a lot of twists and turns in the series, and it mostly goes by at a steady pace and with light problems that get solved quickly. I felt that the series does a great job with what little it has, and its short runtime is perfect to leave us entertained without feeling like a huge burden. Jesse Williams is charming, and he’s the only person who makes an impression, while others just hover around his orbit.

That being said, the series feels unimpressive by the end because the storylines are so diluted and obvious. Every storyline is simple, but made to look bigger than it is. The sequences feel familiar, and there’s no chemistry between the characters to make them feel like anything more than actors working together. By the end of each episode, I wished I had turned my brain off to enjoy this, but I kept my hopes up only for them to be completely dashed.
Thus, this series will feel disappointing to most, especially if you try to look any deeper. It’s weightless and seems to exist because it has to. There’s only so much that Williams’s charms can overcome, but this is not it. I did not enjoy the humour either because, again, it never goes all out. The series, thus, feels neither like a comedy nor a thriller. It’s just something that exists. The central conflict surrounding Alice’s disappearance should’ve either been more thrilling or more funny. It’s neither, and neither is it particularly new. It’s an odd watch.
Final Thoughts

If you wish to turn your brain off and enjoy the beautiful scenes of Italy while being mildly amused, this might be your cup of tea. Otherwise, Hotel Costiera just doesn’t work because it’s not bold enough to be anything.
