As Lahore seethes with unrest and the clamor for independence crescendos, the destinies of these characters become intertwined in a tale of passion, betrayal, and the enduring quest for liberation. In a world where every choice bears the weight of history, their journey unfolds against the backdrop of a nation on the brink of transformation.

One user critiqued X (formerly Twitter), stating that although Sanjay Leela Bhansali presented a narrative of women committed to the freedom struggle in Heeramandi, the expected storytelling finesse was absent. They felt the storyline should have delved deeper into the struggle for independence, but found it lacking in intrigue.

On the flip side, another user expressed admiration for Heeramandi, finding it visually captivating. They couldn’t understand the negative reviews, highlighting the immersive experience provided by every frame, dialogue, Urdu words, song, and set, which effectively transported them to the depicted era.

Conversely, a different Twitter user criticized Sharmin Segal’s performance, considering it a significant disappointment. They felt Segal failed to do justice to her character, particularly in portraying Alamzeb, who is deeply passionate about poetry. They suggested that simply having wide, lifeless eyes and slow lip movement wasn’t sufficient to convincingly portray a character like Alamzeb, labeling it as the weakest aspect of Heeramandi.
