Heartbeat Episode 15 Recap
Heartbeat episode 15 starts with a heartbroken In-hae running out of the house, heartbroken after learning that Woo-hyeol ran away from home so as to die alone. Even his friends try their hardest to find him but to no avail. As In-hae sobs about the predicament they are in, Gi-suk thinks back about Hae-won’s words about the redevelopment of their neighbourhood and the fact that vampires live in Shaded Oasis.

Elsewhere, Do-sik looks at his special sword and thinks about the conversation he had with Man-hwi wherein he opened up about why he wants a half-vampire’s blood and the advice he gave him in turn. However, he is left bewildered when he learns what Man-hwi has been up to in his house and when he meets him later on, he berates him for how he chose to live. However, Man-hwi reminds him that they both need blood to survive and that he was only doing Hae-won’s work. They get into a fight about his work ethic, after which Do-sik dismisses him from his employment.
Later on, Do-sik confronts Hae-won and tells her everything Man-hwi told him and asks her to stop her pursuit of Shaded Oasis. However, Hae-won refuses to comply in any way. She calls Man-hwi to scream at him, but he isn’t in the mood for her words.

At Shaded Oasis, In-hae comes back home looking defeated and shares with her father that Woo-hyeol left the mansion for good and that she should’ve been there for her. He grows concerned for her, but In-hae promises to find Woo-hyeol under any circumstance. The next day, the neighbours try to persuade Dong-il to sell the mansion, which leaves him in thought. He talks to In-hae later and tells her that he is thankful that Woo-hyeol left quietly for her benefit. He also advises her to sell the house, but she refuses and tells him that she will wait for him at the mansion.
As In-hae goes out of the house, Do-sik spots her on the road and immediately rushes over to talk to her. He discusses the redevelopment project and also advises her to sell the mansion. She, however, says the same thing to him, and he insists that she will get hurt if she continues on this path. She, though, promises to find a way, no matter what. Do-sik gets emotional seeing her so adamant about this.
That night, Man-hwi calls Do-sik and promises to do a favour for him – he will kill Woo-hyeol for him, and he then asks him to come to the guest house. At Shaded Oasis, Dong-il is taken aback after seeing Man-hwi coming up the road, and as Do-sik rushes to the mansion, In-hae also reaches the home and comes face to face with Man-hwi.

He kidnaps her and threatens her to tell him where Woo-hyeol is, and she insists that she doesn’t know his whereabouts. As danger draws near, Woo-hyeol realises that In-hae is in danger and rushes to her aide. His entry comes as a shock to In-hae, but Man-hwi looks rather happy at the reunion. The two fight it out, with Man-hwi getting the upper hand thanks to his dietary habits. As Woo-hyeol lies on the ground, Man-hwi tries to choke In-hae, which of course enrages Woo-hyeol, who uses his special abilities to remind his nemesis of his place. Fearing for his life, Man-hwi runs away from the fight once again.
Woo-hyeol is left behind to face In-hae for abandoning her without a word. As he tries to walk away from her, In-hae asks him why he abandoned her without a word which melts his heart, and he hugs her, which is seen by Do-sik from afar. Later on, the two talk after coming back to Shaded Oasis and Woo-hyeol tells her that he doesn’t wish to live if that means killing her since he has lived long enough. She asks him whether he thinks she will be happy without him – she will be left pining for him just as he has for her for so many years.

Woo-hyeol promises, thus, to find a solution together and never leave her again. Elsewhere, Do-sik looks angry at the foiled plan and opens up to his secretary about Woo-hyeol and In-hae’s tragic bond. Outside, Yang-nam is left fearful that the lunar eclipse has finally arrived and, with it, Woo-hyeol’s last few hours.
The next day, Woo-hyeol and Dong-il talk to each other, wherein the latter asks the vampire to let the two of them leave since In-hae doesn’t need to be here anymore. In reply, Woo-hyeol tells him that he doesn’t need a butler anymore and they can leave if they want to. However, he does ask them to stay in the mansion as a last wish, as he wants to stay with In-hae till he is alive.
Later on, a mob of neighbours rush to Shaded Oasis to make them conform to the redevelopment project while Woo-hyeol collapses from the toll of the curse. In-hae’s presence gives him peace, and she promises to stay by his side no matter what. However, the neighbours create a ruckus outside, and after curtly telling them to leave her and Woo-hyeol alone, she meets with Hae-won, who taunts her about the house and hiding Woo-hyeol’s true identity better. That night, the gang discuss the best course of action moving forward, and Dong-seop mentions leaving Shaded Oasis so as not to cause trouble. In-hae refuses to accept this.
Heartbeat Episode 15 Ending

Meanwhile, Woo-hyeol gets a call from Do-sik, who meets him in a dark alley and emotionally blackmails him by asking how long he will trouble In-hae. Do-sik gives him his knife and asks him to end his life with it; Woo-hyeol refuses to do so without keeping his promise to In-hae first, which, of course, Do-sik refuses to accept. He follows him with the knife drawn. Just as he’s about to attack him, In-hae spots them and sees what Do-sik is about to do, leaving her shocked.
Heartbeat Episode 15 Review

I am simply thankful that we aren’t running around in the streets trying to find a vampire. Episode 15 doesn’t throw the same punch that you’d expect from the episode before the season finale. I mean, there are cute moments and all, but the action scenes or the moments between anyone other than In-hae and Woo-hyeol are too short and have no impact. The threats seem empty and petty at this point. Hae-won’s behaviour is just childish, and taking her seriously is becoming a serious task at this point. I mean, watching this casually is quite fun, but nothing more than that.
That being said, as mentioned earlier, In-hae and Woo-hyeol are adorable, and their scenes are cute to watch. What is the point of Man-hwi? I have no clue; he just says a lot of things and is menacing in front of humans, but the moment he comes across Woo-hyeol, he’s a wet cat. Like, classic bully and all is fine, but like, these are vampires, come on.
Either way, waiting for a sweet last episode; let’s see if that comes to fruition!
Heartbeat is streaming on Amazon Prime Video in select regions and on KBS2 in Korea.
