Gulmohar Plot/Synopsis

The official synopsis of the film reads, “With just four days left to vacate the 34-year-old house, the Batras explore the meaning of family and home. As they question if it is the house that keeps a family together or is it the people?” In the trailer, we see that the Batra family currently lives in a house in Delhi, where almost two generations have grown up in the last 34 years.

During a party, where all the family members have come together, the matriarch of the family announces that she has bought a house in Pondicherry and will live there from now on. This causes chaos among the family members as her son Arun runs over the fact that his mother didn’t even discuss it with him before taking such a step, nor do his own kids ask for his opinion.

There is a visible rift between Arun and his son Aditya, whose ways are out of his understanding and they even argue over the type of clothes Aditya wears to his meetings. That’s why he has decided to move out of the family house and live on his own, after his grandmother’s announcement.

With only four days left for Holi, the matriarch wants to spend one last festivity together with everyone before they pack up their bags and move to Pondicherry. During this time, everyone reminisces their own special memories with the house and how they have grown over the years. While it looks like the family has grown in size but drifted apart from each other. We will find out if the departure will bring them together for the last time.
