Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities: Mexican director and Horror Maestro Guillermo Del Toro will return to the seasoned genre with Netflix’s Cabinet of Curiosities. The upcoming horror anthology series is based on his short novel of the same name and will comprise eight episodes in total. Moreover, the oscar-winning writer will helm two episodes from the series, while the rest will be directed by different filmmakers.

The cast of the much-awaited horror anthology adaptation includes Tim Blake Nelson, David Hewlett, Kate Micucci, Martin Starr, Glynn Turman, F. Murray Abraham, Ben Barnes, Crispin Glover, Rupert Grint, Essie Davis, Andrew Lincoln, Eric André, Sofia Boutella, Peter Weller and Charlyne Yi. Furthermore, the team of directors and writers will include Ana Lily Amirpour, Panos Cosmatos, Catherine Hardwicke, Guillermo Navarro, David Prior, Vincenzo Natali, Keith Thomas, Regina Corrado, Lee Patterson, Haley Z. Boston, Mika Watkins, Aaron Stewart-Ahn.

Notably, the streaming platform has described the anthology as the first season of the short stories. This implies that there is a possibility for its continuation into a recurring Halloween Saga.

Guillermo Del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities Plot/Storyline

The storyline of the upcoming series revolves around different horror and supernatural themes, based on the short story written by Guillermo Del Toro. There will be a total of eight episodes filled with a unique spooky element, along with several guaranteed jumpscares. The critically acclaimed director will also serve as the presenter of the series and relay the vision for each episode.

The plot of each episode will vary according to the subject, with a common goal of challenging the classical horror genre. For instance, the episodes are about a former soldier discovering an estranged storage unit, a small-town investigator exploring some gruesome murders, a bank teller’s experiments with continents, an eerie painter who meets a creative student, a twin who embarks on a mission to find the spirit of his dead sister, a mansion with dark secrets, and a couple who interacts with a ghostly presence.

The officially released clip for the series explores the dark and sinister glimpses of these episodes, along with the star cast. Moreover, the anthology also promises to be a perfect tribute to the genre, with a rendition of its own.

The television series is also been described as the brainchild of the Mexican director (who has collaborated with revered names from the horror genre), and his tribute to the suspenseful yet satisfying branch of cinema.

The first two episodes of the upcoming horror anthology will be available to stream on Netflix starting on the 25th of October. The rest couple of the episodes will drop consecutively each day until the 28th of October. Thereby making it a perfect binge-watch for your Halloween season.
