This December Viacom18 Studios & Dharma Productions are bringing us an early ‘Masaledar’ Christmas with Govinda Naam Mera on Disney+ Hotter. Written and directed by Shashank Khaitan, the comedy mystery takes up an unusual case of a murder with only one suspect but many twists and turns that hide a lot under the layers.
Kaushal’s Govinda is a choreographer married to Pednekar’s Gauri, who already has a boyfriend of her own openly admitting the same to her husband. Kiara Advani joins the madness as Govinda’s fellow dancing girlfriend, and together, they’re soon roped into a murder case with Kaushal’s character as the prime suspect.
The former C.I.D. Daya leads the investigation and is out for the man’s blood, but with too many secrets popping left and right, the final verdict has to be held back. Dharma Productions released the trailer of the film a few minutes ago, promising a full pack of cackling entertainment with a stellar team of actors leading the vision.
Kaushal has shared onscreen space with both Advani and Pednekar in previous projects as well. While he was seen alongside the former in Netflix’s Lust Stories, with the latter, he was seen in Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship. The upcoming movie’s poster had already done its rounds on the internet and marked anticipation on the part of the viewers who’re ready to get a load of these refreshing pairings brought out by Karan Johar’s production house.
Johar and Kaushal sat down together for another video released by Disney+ Hotstar prior to the release of the trailer, wherein they exchange a chuckle or two as the producer discusses the actor’s usual onscreen intense visage. So, for this project, Johar turned against all the odds to give his filmography a makeover with his evergreen amalgamated blend of genres in a single film to transform Kaushal into a dancer drowning in major debt, all while he’s henpecked by his wife.
Set in a rather ‘real’ and Indian setting as opposed to Johar’s old romantic snowcapped visuals, Kaushal’s atypical underdog avatar is coming to Hotstar soon!
