Goodbye Plot/Storyline

The plot of Goodbye revolves around the duo of a father and daughter, who are typically contrasting in views, nature and actions. While dealing with the loss, the family prepares for the last rites of Gayatri. Everyone arrives for the final rites and traditions, in their own frenzy. There is a son in the story, who has married a foreigner, and cares about her mother but not the procedures of the rites. His weird actions in the environment of grief, often provide comical relief, followed by a scolding from his father.

Apart from this, Rashmika Mandanna, who plays the daughter of Gayatri is also of the same opinion. She believes that her mother should be given the choice of choosing how and when of her farewell. Furthermore, she is immediately contradicted by her father, played by Amitabh Bachchan.

Her father believes that the last ritual and rites are something sacred and not to be meddled with. According to him, it is not a birthday party where the individuals get to decide the theme. This is why he wants a proper traditional farewell for her wife, for her journey into eternity.

Meanwhile, Sunil Grover(Boss, Bharat) also plays a significant role in the film, he is a self-proclaimed messenger of god, who will regulate the entire rites. His character also hints to be an eye-opener for Tara, making her realize the importance of values and culture. Along with the emotions attached to it.
