The biggest set-piece for Veronica’s shocking case, however, is in the hands of Janete, another woman whose horrifying life with her husband is out of a horror movie. In spite of the terrible fate that awaits for lest her efforts to escape are discovered, Janete takes a stand against her husband’s torture to collude with Veronica and bring the truth to light.
In the background of the horrible crime is the apathy of law enforcement to do anything to help stop the perpetrator from hurting women and keeping the streets safe. Are the police in cahoots with the perpetrator, or is it just plain, old-fashioned victim blaming and laziness?
What fate awaits Veronica and Janete? Does Claudio get apprehended before it’s too late? Does Janete get out of the horrible situation alive?

How Do Veronica and Janete Meet?
Veronica, investigating the Ideal Love frauds and women abuse because of it, tells people over the news that if anyone has been abused and wants their voices to be heard, they should contact her. Janete, after a particularly rough night, contacts Veronica after watching the news, thus starting their camaraderie, with Janete supplying Veronica with information on her husband’s horrible deeds as well as collecting evidence to stop Claudio once and for all.
Veronica

Veronica’s backstory is more about her relationship with her father, the chief and her father’s friend Carvana and how the conspiracy is far greater than something that she could’ve imagined.
Veronica’s life has been plagued with what happened to her family when she was young – her father shot and killed her mother before shooting himself. Although he didn’t die, Veronica had to bear the brunt of such a horrible crime. Years later, and now a mother of two herself, she is still not able to forget what happened.
As she starts to investigate Janete’s case and bring Claudio to justice, Veronica faces the apathy of the police, including Carvana, whom she takes to be her confidant, and realizes soon enough that there’s more to her father and Claudio’s story that meets the eye.

In the end, she realizes that there’s a greater organisation that has a hold on every position of power and has bought everyone off. They are the ones protecting men like Claudio for some reason and are making Carvana bury the truth. Furthermore, they are the ones who hurt her family when her father got too close to the truth. Carvana was only there to keep an eye on Veronica so that she never found out too much.
After she gets attacked by masked men, Veronica sends her family away and tries to get deeper into the mess that is the police system. From Anita’s personal files, she finds the name of an orphanage from where she realizes that it is owned by the same mafia who are after everything and who train orphans from a young age to work for them in important roles in the system – and her father tried dug too deep.
After an explosive fight with Carvana, Veronica goes to Janete’s home and finds no one inside; she breaks in and starts rifling through Janete’s things to find out more about Claudio’s ranch and Janete’s location. Unfortunately, she gets to know that Carvana has disappeared.
Janete

Abused and tortured for years on end, Janete is a broken woman whose husband, Claudio, has taken over her life in the most horrible way possible. He has isolated her and verbally and physically assaulted her to keep her obedient and tied to him. Claudio wants to have a son more than anything, but due to constant miscarriages, his dream has remained unfulfilled.
Thus, obviously, the logical next step is to hold your wife hostage, put a box on her head, and pick up unsuspecting and desperate women from bus stops in lieu of a job and abduct and murder them. Thanks to the years of abuse, Janete is too mentally broken and afraid to do anything against her husband, but after her sister, Nice, disappears after visiting her, she starts to keep an eye on her husband and collect evidence.
However, since her husband has an eye on literally everything, it’s difficult for Janete to keep things hidden. One night, out on a murder spree, Janete gets out of the box on her head and spies on her husband, doing some ritual to get rid of demons. This points towards the fact that Claudio’s weird ritual and murder fetishes are cult/religion based, probably to have his own child. Anyway, her disobedience results in her being brutally attacked, after which her resolve to bring her husband’s victims to justice just gets more solidified for her.
As she rushes to get more information out of Claudio to help Veronica, he starts to make his move to catch another naïve and desperate woman in need of a job. Things don’t work out in Janete’s favour, and soon she discovers that she’s pregnant again. Scared for herself and her baby, she tries to ask for help from her sister, who, having been threatened by Claudio, refuses to have anything to do with her.
That night, Claudio takes Janete to the basement and prepares another woman to murder. Having had enough of her husband’s antics, she mixes poison in the tea to hopefully get rid of him. Unfortunately, just as she tries to free the woman, Claudio comes into the basement after his grandmother dies from drinking the poisoned tea. Furious, he douses Janete with kerosene and burns her alive.
Good Morning Veronica Season 1 Ending

In the end, as Carvana is killed by Claudio, Veronica, guilt-ridden at Janete’s death, burns Claudio to death in the same fashion, putting an end to him and his reign of terror. However, the police try to frame her for the murder, headed by Anita and the Commissioner, and Veronica, having no other choice, decides to falsify her death and goes undercover into the mafia from the inside.
In the last scene, Veronica, working as a waiter in a restaurant, hands Gregório Duarte, the Tinder Swindler character who started it all, a glass of poisoned drink. Duarte falls on the table, seemingly dead, as Veronica rides off into the night, filled with purpose.
Good Morning Veronica Season 2 drops on August 03.
