Ghosted Trailer Breakdown

The trailer of the film starts on a completely romantic note and features an impromptu date between Sadie and Cole (played by Ana de Armas and Chris Evans respectively), which gets off to a pretty great start. Moreover, one thing leads to another and the date ends up having all the colours, emotions, and gestures concluded by a pitch-perfect ending.

As Cole prepares to ask Sadie for another meeting, it becomes quite clear that the film is heading in the direction of classic romantic comedies. However, just when things are going soft and smooth, the tone of the three-minute nine-second clip changes completely.

Cole realizes that Sadie has been ghosting him ever since and that she might not be interested in future get-togethers. And even though the hopeless romantic Cole had already assumed her to be “the one”, things might have panned out differently for them.

Nevertheless, Cole decides to infuse some guts into his attempt and gets on a flight to London to woo Sadie (a completely original idea that has never been tried and tested in a rom-com before). However, as he reaches the ultimate destination for the romantic gesture, Cole gets kidnapped by some unknown mercenaries.

This is when the official trailer switches gears and changes into a “True Lies” situation with an unexpected twist. After Cole starts to get tortured by the rogue elements, Sadie arrives at his rescue and reveals her true colours.

The hopelessly romantic Cole finds out that Sadie is no normal girl, but a full-fledged CIA spy, who is trained to eliminate mercenaries single-handedly. Even though it scares the hell out of him, Cole decides to go with the flow.

Furthermore, as the situation progresses, the action in the flick takes precedence, and we get to see some gun-blazing sequences featuring Ana de Armas and Chris Evans. The rest of the events find both of their characters engaging with the present situation, while the ghosted Cole tries with all his might to make sense of the ongoing events. Notably, the trailer ends on this witty note and leaves an exciting vibe for the upcoming action romance saga, which is as unique as it gets.

For the unversed, Ghosted will mark the third collaboration between Evans and Armas, after the detective mystery Knives Out and the action thriller Gray Man.

You can stream the film on Apple TV+ starting from the 21st of April 2023. Let us know your thoughts about it in the comment section below.
