García! Episode 3 Review: Garcia Gets Close to the Unsettling Truth

García! Episode 3 finds our superhuman spy (played by Francisco Ortiz) on his first top-secret mission of the 21st century. The episode also adds context to his backstory and points a shadow of doubt over his long-lost friends. For the unversed, the HBO Max Original is based on the graphic novels of Santiago García, which revolves around a resurrected super spy from the sixties.

The cast of the super spy series includes Veki Velilla as Antonia, Daniel Freire as Neffenberg, Francisco Reyes, Emilio Gutiérrez Caba, Silvia Abascal, Lola Herrera, Nico Romero, Helio Pedregal, Mario Pardo, Miki Molina, Marina Gatell and Pepe Ocio. Moreover, the show is primarily available in the Spanish language with English subtitles.

García! Episode 3 Review Does Not Contain Spoilers-

The episode starts with the black-and-white reference to Garcia’s love interest Feli. To whom he reveals the plan of quitting the secretive operations, and leading a normal married life. Something which he also mentions to his partner in crime, Ortiz. The story then shifts forward to the 21st century where Garcia is still on a mission to interfere with the politics of modern-day Madrid, Spain. Where he reunites with Ortiz and kidnaps the politician from the leftist group.

However, this time Ortiz fails to eliminate the seed of doubt inside Garcia’s mind and leaves him with a plethora of questions about his actions. Followed by a subtle interrogation by his daughter/journalist Antonia later.

The episode is quick, witty and filled with hardcore action sequences. Morever, the story of the super spy is halfway through and we have enough context about the bad guys manipulating Garcia.
