-Garcia Review Does Not Contain Spoilers-
The series starts with a black-and-white introduction of Garica (the super spy) in a tight 4:3 ratio. It reveals the basic purpose of the superhuman agent, which was to serve the means of Francoist secret service and his evil campaigns during the dictator’s rule.
The episode further moves to present-day Spain, where a 23-year-old journalist cum intern Antonia is living with her traditional father (who had a glimpse of the super spy during his childhood) and is in desperate need of a story to sustain her job. Furthermore, with a series of happenstances, Antonia awakes Garcia from his cryogenic sleep and initiates the modern-day adventures of the spy.
Garcia Episode 1 gives us a quick introduction to the thrilling world of the episodic and works as a revealing pilot. The back-and-forth style of transitioning Garica’s past with the present-day event is an intriguing and fine creative choice.

The premise is entertaining and engrossing, and it doesn’t take you long to get familiar with the context. Moreover, the concept of a super spy is not brand new and has undergone several renditions. The Spanish series plays around the tried and tested concept but offers a new vision to it. Moreover, it also promises to be more than what meets the eye.
Garcia Episode 2 picks up right from the pilot. The super spy finds himself stuck in a modern-day world and takes the help of Antonia to figure out the intentions of the bad guys. We also get to witness the full-fledged history of the spy (in the same black-and-white ratio) and the story of Garcia’s former love interest.
The episode also features the first clash of Garica with his arch nemesis, in the form of an equally powered arch-nemesis. Thereby introducing an equally powerful antagonist in the series.
