Firefly Lane Season 2 is Coming! Here’s a Recap of Season 1 to Refresh Your Memory

Having a soul sister by your side is a blessing, isn’t it? Having them besides you for over 30 years is also a big dream come true. By now, you already must know I’m talking about the Firefly Lane series because, buddies, it’s coming back. Yes, for the fans of Firefly Lane, season 2 is en route!

Directed by Maggie Friedman, Firefly Lane is a story depicting the friendship between two ladies since they were kids and how they stuck together for 30 years, through thick and thin. Starring Katherine Heigl as Tully Hart and Sarah Chalke as Kate Mularkey, Firefly Lane is a series that gets viewers to fall in love with the unexplainable bond between Tully and Kate.

As the series first aired back in 2021, you might have forgotten some important details, and so here we are. We present you today with a recap of what happened in season 1, what you can expect in season 2, and when it is coming to your doorstep (not literally). Let’s dig in.

Recap of Firefly Lane Season 1

Tallulah Hart, aka Tully, moves to Firefly Lane in 1974 with her hippie mother. She lives next door to our shy and sweet Kate Mularkey. Tully, who has trouble relying on her unstable mother and who has no idea who her father is, seeks comfort in Kate’s family. On the other hand, Kate’s family members are warm and affectionate.

One day, when Tully sits alone and cries after being sexually harassed, Kate finds her. This is when the two bond and become close. Then we switch to the year 2003 when Kate and Tully are professionals in media. Tully, the badass, becomes a journalist, whereas Kate, who seeks protection from Tully, becomes her producer.

Tully gets massively famous and bags her own talk show, “Girlfriend Hour.” Kate falls in love with her boss, Johnny Ryan (Ben Lawson), gets married, and shares a daughter, Marah (Yael Yurman). While things seem to be going well in the beginning, Kate and Johnny end up filing for divorce.

Meanwhile, Tully faces a sudden marriage with Max (Jon-Michael Ecker) and also encounters a miscarriage. This leads Max to leave Tully, making her life extremely troublesome. Marah, who has never gotten proper love from Kate, often turns to Tully for all her needs. Tully, who loves Marah, finds herself disliking the way Kate parents her child. We can understand Tully’s feelings since she’s never had a proper family as well.

As the series progresses, we see how two women who were once thick friends begin to drift apart. Especially at the end, when Tully shows up at the funeral of Kate’s father, we get to see the tension between them. Towards the end, we can see how, when Kate asks why Tully is at the funeral despite never wanting to see her again, Tully asks how long Kate is going to punish her. Hmm, something has happened, hasn’t it?

In season 2, we are going to find out what the reason is behind Kate hating Tully so much that she said, “I don’t ever want to see you again,” at the end of the 10th episode. Will they both reconcile? Was the mistake so big that it couldn’t be forgiven and forgotten? Who made the mistake? Or is it just a misunderstanding? We will find out in season 2.

Firefly Lane Season 2 and Trailer

Firefly Lane season 2 will be released on December 2, 2022, and it will be the finale of the series. The series will have 16 episodes, split into two halves. The first eight episodes will most likely show a flashback of the two young ladies and their reason for splitting, with the second half focusing on the climax and ending.

So, what are your thoughts after watching the trailer? Do you feel the tension between the protagonists? Will they both find their lost bond and patch it up? Let’s find out when the season airs, but before that, if you wish to re-watch the series, it’s streaming on Netflix!
