Season 3 Episode 9 of Exchange kicks off with former GFRIEND member turned solo artist, Yuju, stepping in as a special guest host. She expresses her admiration for the show before we dive back into where the last episode left off. Choi Chang-jin is given the chance to choose a female participant for his first date, and he opts for Song Da-hye. Meanwhile, the other participants engage in casual conversation, but things take a turn when Lee Seo-kyung becomes overly touchy with Cho Hwi-hyeon, which visibly upsets his ex, Lee Ju-won. As tensions simmer, a message arrives on their phones—it’s Day 6, and they’re tasked with revealing who has caught their eye.
Lee Hye-won takes this opportunity to message Cho Hwi-hyeon, expressing her feelings and gratitude for not choosing him when she had the chance. However, this time around, he hasn’t chosen her, leading to another rift between them. Kong Sang-jeong received the text from Hwi-hyeon and responded, both of them harbouring a mutual curiosity about each other. Meanwhile, Lee Yu-jung and Lee Ju-won exchanged messages following their successful previous date, keen on continuing their connection. As everyone received messages from various individuals, the breakup parcel arrived, causing a stir, particularly for Kong Sang-jeong and Choi Chang-jin.
Sang-jeong hurried to the kitchen to open the parcel, discovering a T-shirt inside, the very one she had given to her ex as their first gift, holding significant sentimental value. Upon seeing the parcel, Cho Hwi-hyeon brought out a candy packet his ex had given him, sharing it with everyone, much to the dismay of Lee Hye-won, who felt he was being insensitive, sparking drama and misunderstandings. The following morning, people embarked on their respective dates, some experiencing blossoming love while others felt a sense of obligation.
Lee Hye-won and Seo Dong-jin opted not to go on dates, instead choosing to converse and spend time together, resembling two wounded souls seeking solace in each other’s company. After everyone returned from their dates, a text arrived on day 7, prompting them to reach out to someone who had captured their heart that day, leading to a major revelation about Lee Yu-jung when she received a text from her ex, revealing that Choi Chang-jin was indeed her former partner.
