With the Stone Wars over and Tsukasa’s Empire of Might joining forces with the Kingdom of Science, Senku steps closer to his dream of sailing across the world. However, he might be a capable scientist, but he is no sailor; hence, he makes the decision to use Elixier of Life, aka Nitric Acid, on Ryusui Nanami. He is a born sailor who can take the group to its destination.
However, after several millennia, the world is not the same and hence their new mission is to create a new world map. To achieve the objective, Senku builds a hot air balloon for a wide overview of the village. Accompanied by Ryusui, he sets sail on the flying machine to redraw the map. The two of them share similar qualities and understand each other well, which makes the work easier and more fun.
The first episode follows the similar format as the previous ones and takes the audience through many adventures. Without skipping a single step of the whole process, a detailed explanation of every new task is provided. The story manages to remain as logical as possible, and the aspects of it do not seem as outlandish. The creators have followed the manga thoroughly without skipping the important elements, which keeps the show interesting.

Significant character development can also be seen. Ryusui, who appears to be a self-absorbed and greedy man, is seen getting concerned with the villagers’ plight. Moreover, he never fails to show respect to everyone around him, regardless of their background. Senku is also seen growing closer to the rest of the characters and building a genuine relationship with his fellow citizens. The plot unfolds steadily, which helps us understand the story better.
Besides the plot, the animation remains top tier as usual. The character designs are done incredibly well, and each of them contains a special quality that makes them stand out. The vast sceneries are shown beautifully and include intricate details to make it realistic, all the while maintaining the essence of 2D animation. Voice actors have also delivered an amazing performance, bringing each character to life.
Overall it was a steady yet entertaining start to the third season. The pace of the storytelling process remains slow, but it does not drag out a particular scene unnecessarily to meet the time stamp.
