Destined With You Episode 3 Recap
The episode begins right from where we left off as Shin-yu (Rowoon) is seen losing control of the car as the red hand makes a return at the same time that Hong-jo is casting her love spell. After safely getting out of the car, Shin-yu arrives at a local dive where his girlfriend Na-yeon (Yura) is drunk. In her intoxicated state, Na-yeon opens up about their relationship and confronts him on whether he still loves her. She talks about why they have been delaying marriage talks despite dating for two years. While Shin-yu doesn’t reveal the reason, he only asks her for some more time.

After following the instructions from the spell book, Hong-jo (Jo Bo-ah) prepares a potion from the love spell and takes it to the workplace and pours it into a glass where her crush Kwon Jae-kyung (Ha Jun) is to be seated during a meeting. After keeping her love potion ready for his consumption, she waits outside the door to take a peek at whether he takes a sip of the same. Amid this, she receives a call from her boss which leads her to miss the moment whether Jae-kyung has taken the potion.
Her workplace problems keep adding up as she learns about a car accident that destroyed the flower arrangement that was prepared by her for the Mayor’s visit. She also learns that it was Shin-yu’s car that caused the accident and the two have banter over who is wrong. In the midst of this conversation, Shin-yu asks her to take the day off and accompany him on a trip to try out a spell from the book.
On receiving a leave, Hong-jo and Shin-yu take a road trip to a destination where he suggests that they must first look for a specific ingredient that would be needed for the spell to work. On a hike, Hong-jo spots the flower needed for the spell and soon they prepare to cast the spell.

Without revealing any details, Shin-yu only informs her that he is unwell and that he is desperate to find a cure for his condition. He also reveals that he has been cursed but how and why of it is left out of the story. To cast the spell to cure diseases, Hong-jo then dresses up in a white dress and follows the instructions to cast the spell by creating a mixture of the ingredients mentioned. With a red paste, she writes the word “Life” on Shin-yu’s hand. After burning the page from the book which is a part of the process, the spell is cast but it remains unclear whether it has worked.
After the process, Shin-yu keeps feeling uneasy and also has a strange dream that seems to show a connection to his past life. On returning from their road trip, Hong-jo receives a message from Jae-kyung asking to meet her after work for a coffee. This sends her and Shin-yu wondering whether the spell has worked and it’s the reason why he wants to see her. Amid this Shin-yu’s condition doesn’t get any better and after Na-yeon visits him, he ends up breaking up with her. Hong-jo keeps coming up in his thoughts and he even follows her to the place where she is meeting Jae-kyung. Following this, the two meet outside her house and he makes a big confession.
Destined With You Episode 3 Ending
In the final moments of the episode, it is revealed that Shin-yu takes a look at the CCTV footage of the meeting where Hong-jo had left her love potion for Jae-kyung. The video reveals that instead of Jae-kyung, it’s him who ends up drinking it. He later realises how he has been having warm feelings towards her all through her road trip and also compliments on how she looked in the white dress.
After this, he walks towards Hong-jo’s house and waits outside to meet her. On meeting her, he tells her that the love spell on Jae-kyung may not have worked and that without the spell he may still like her. After saying this, he drops another major confession as he tells her that he likes her too leaving Hong-jo shocked.
Destined With You Episode 3 Review
The third episode of the show turns out to be an interesting one as we keep wondering whether Hong-jo’s love spell has worked or not. The episode is also important since it further establishes a closer dynamic between Hong-jo and Shin-yu who may not have the kindest exchanges for the most part but end up worrying and complimenting each other during their conversations at the road trip. The openness with which Hong-jo agrees to help out Shin-yu without any judgement is amazing to see and shows her character well.

As for Shin-yu, an important part of the story gets teased as we see him having a dream about what seems to be his past life where he sees a woman plucking out something from a tree. The moment is similar to the one he shares with Hong-jo. There is definitely a connection between his curse and Hong-jo. With the addition of the love spell that has been cast on him, the story is certainly getting spicier.
The new episode also does a great job of bringing out Rowoon and Jo Bo-ah’s chemistry as there are several moments that will give you butterflies including the episode ending where he confesses that he likes her. Usually, it takes seven episodes for fans to see the lead pair reach this point but Destined With You has been doing things differently and it is impressive.
The episode also gives Yura a chance to shine in the scene where she has a confrontation with Rowoon’s character and she does a good job. As the show has been going ahead, it can also be seen that Rowoon’s acting potential is being seen strongly as he showcases the layers of Shin-yu very well.
Destined With You airs on JTBC and is also streaming on Netflix.
