Destined With You Episode 12 Recap and Review: The South Korean fantasy romance drama, (이 연애는 불가항력) stars SF9’s Rowoon and Jo Bo-ah in lead roles. The supporting cast also includes Ha Jun, and Yura. The JTBC series is directed by Nam Ki-hoon and written by Noh Ji-sul.
The series revolves around Lee Hong-jo (Jo Bo-ah), a civil servant and Jang Shin-yu (Rowoon), a lawyer who come face to face under unexpected circumstances. Hong-jo is revealed as the owner of an old wooden box that has been sealed over 300 years ago which contains a forbidden book that has a connection to Shin-yu. He is suffering from a mysterious illness and its cure lies in the book. Soon, they both realise that the key to saving Shin-yu from the curse is in the hands of Hong-jo. Amid the same, a romance blossoms between the two.
As for the cast, Jo Bo-ah recently starred in 2023’s Tale of the Nine-Tailed 1938 as Nam Ji-ah whereas Rowoon starred in 2022’s Tomorrow. Also, Ha Jun starred in Missing: The Other Side Season 2 as Shin Joon-ho and Yura previously played the role of Chae Yoo-jin in Forecasting Love and Weather. Destined With You airs on JTBC at the 10.30 PM slot on Wednesday-Thursday.

Shin-yu learns that Hong-jo has gone to Mount Onju to check the pit. He instantly calls Jang-beom and tells him subtly about the skeleton they found at the park. This stops Jang-beom from burying Hong-jo as he doesn’t want to get arrested. Shin-yu goes to Mount Onju and finds Hong-jo. Meanwhile, Hong-jo dreams about two kids (Shin-yu and her in the past life). When Shin-yu finds her and reaches his hand out, Hong-jo has a vision of a similar occurrence that happened like this, in their past life.
Hong-jo wonders about the dream and asks whether they both are dreaming the same dream to which Shin-yu doesn’t respond since he knows the truth. Shin-yu then puts Hong-jo to sleep and leaves. The next day, Jang-beom’s news goes viral and it covers up Hong-jo’s scandal. Then she visits a grocery store near Mount Onju to check on the CCTV footage. She learns that Jang-beom was nearby when she was checking the pit.
She goes to his garden and encounters Shin-yu. He worries about her and suspects that Jang-beom would have pushed her. The couple then leave together and the viewers are shown Jang-beom watching them two via CCTV. Later that night, when Shin-yu gets on the elevator to visit Hong-jo who is working late, his hallucinations affect him and he collapses. Hong-jo finds an unconscious Shin-yu and admits him to the hospital. He requests her to leave since he doesn’t want her to see him in this state.
The next day, Hong-jo meets Shin-yu at his office and the couple share a brief cute moment. Then Shin-yu is called in by the mayor. He sees his father and the mayor together. Both of them force him to get married to Nayeon and he tells them that he will sort things out. At a fancy restaurant, Shin-yu meets with Nayeon. She excitedly believes he is going to patch up with her but to her surprise, he brings in Mr. Lee, the guy with whom Nayeon cheated.

Nayeon acts naively but Shin-yu with evidence proves her wrongdoings. He sarcastically congratulates them two and leaves. At Hong-jo’s place, she meets with Jae-kyung’s father and has a drink with him. When Jae-kyung arrives, he argues with his father and we learn that he requires 30 million won. Nayeon makes her father move one important deal from Shin-yu to another person. This becomes another hot topic in the City Hall.
During the team dinner, Hong-jo tells her colleagues about everything that happened so far though they don’t believe her. Then she goes to Shin-yu’s place and startles him. He helps her get sober and they both go to bed. In the middle of the night, Hong-jo wakes up and tries to caress his face and she gets a vision of her in her past life touching Shin-yu with bloody hands.
The next morning, Shin-yu wakes up and learns Hong-jo has left. He tries to connect with her but finds her nowhere. Finally, Hong-jo calls Shin-yu and asks him to meet her at a place. They both go to view the snow and it is at the spot where they both confess knowing the truth. The viewers learn that in the past life, Shin-yu stabbed Hong-jo on top of a snowy hill. Apparently, anyone who kills Hong-jo will be cursed and this is why Shin-yu is experiencing the hallucinations.

Finally, we understand that Shin-yu is the one who killed Hong-jo in their past life but the reason behind it is still unknown. Definitely, there is a way out of this curse which we will learn soon. The romance aspect is generously given in this episode, thanks to the amount of smooches the main leads share.
Nayeon’s character is definitely taking a spot in the list of irritating women who try to break off someone’s relationship. Yura has done a great job of portraying such a negative character. More regarding Jang-beom hasn’t been shown and since he is a pivotal character, his backstory will be unraveled much more vividly.

The movie is just so so interesting and gas left me in suspense, I really can’t wait for the next episodes to air out. It’s a heart warming, a touching and a movie full of lessons to learn.
