Death and Other Details Episode 2 Ending Explained

According to Cotesworth, he was diligently pursuing a lead on someone named Victor Sams in Imogene’s mother’s case. He believed it to be the alias of the individual directly implicated in the tragic death of Imogene’s mother. The perpetrator had skillfully covered their tracks, leading to Cotesworth’s discovery of Sams’s existence after three months of relentless investigation. However, when Cotesworth shared this crucial information with Laurence Collier, he faced backlash for what was perceived as a time-consuming pursuit yielding no substantial results.

Cotesworth contends that Imogene’s mother’s death is intricately tied to the Colliers, with Laurence, at the very least, concealing some information. This revelation prompted Laurence Collier to sever ties with Cotesworth when he started probing into Victor Sams. Despite the setback, Cotesworth, deeply invested in the case and having developed a friendship with Imogene, returned to it, recognizing the need for her assistance given her intelligence and cleverness.

In the early stages of investigating Keith Trubitsky’s murder on the ship, Imogene asserts that her and Cotesworth’s presence on the same vessel, coinciding with the murder, is no happenstance. Her intuition proves accurate when she uncovers that Keith is actually named Danny, Cotesworth’s former assistant from years ago during her mother’s case.

Danny and Cotesworth strategically infiltrated the boat, aware that the entire Collier family would be present, affording them the opportunity to surveil them for ten days, access the company’s records, and unveil the Colliers’ hidden secrets connected to Imogene’s mother’s death. Touched by Cotesworth’s unwavering commitment to the case, Imogene agrees to assist him, realizing that her unique access to the Collier family is crucial.

Cotesworth suspects a link between Danny’s death and Imogene’s mother’s case, acknowledging that Danny must have uncovered something significant. Despite collaborating with Imogene, Cotesworth withholds certain details, mindful that anyone, even Imogene, might be implicated in Danny’s demise. The narrative being presented from Cotesworth’s perspective suggests his immunity from suspicion, though it remains uncertain if it’s genuine or a deliberate illusion.

As Death and Other Details Episode 2 moves towards the end, the revelation emerges that everyone aboard harbours a secret, and any of them could be motivated to kill Danny. The suspects include the Colliers, the Chuns, the staff, and even Sunil, the boat’s owner. When Keith is murdered, Cotesworth assumes control of the investigation, conducting a night-long interrogation of passengers. However, with the arrival of law enforcement in the morning, it becomes evident that someone else is taking charge, leaving Cotesworth to navigate the complexities of the unfolding mystery.
