DAHMER Monster The Jeffrey Dahmer Story Trailer Breakdown

A jolly tune that would play at a carnival kick starts the DAHMER Monster trailer as two men walk towards an apartment. One of them is the titular host played by the Emmy Winning actor Evan Peters, who’s now well adapted to such chilling shows, owing to his former career trajectory shared with Ryan Murphy.

He welcomes his guest to the house and the latter notices an absurd smell. The scene pans out to show us Dahmer’s room which has several used beer cans lying around along with a tool that looks similar to a heat gun. At this moment, the music darkens and the previous jovial track fades out. Dahmer ominously locks the door and the overall grim atmosphere stuns his guest.

A montage follows thereafter, wherein Dahmer is seen tending to several male guests and bringing them drinks. Niecy Nash’s voiceover is heard in the background, “What do you do in there? The smells. Power tools going all hours of the night. I hear screaming coming from your apartment.” All this while, the rolling montage builds up our dread for this man and it’s not clear as to what he’s subjecting these men coming over his place to. All we know is that it’s gory and sinister.

And then, the trailer puts us in a bright room with him and his neighbor (Neicy Nash) where the two are having a chat and the former seems to be apologizing to the latter. He asks her to unpack the gift he’s brought for her but since she doesn’t, he opens it himself revealing an unsavory sandwich. He demands her to eat it in his calm yet menacing voice.

The next scene shows him hugging a man in what looks like a coffin under the ground, which in a split second, switches to a scene in his room with him hugging a mannequin in the same position on his bed. We flash back to the previous moments shared between Nash and Peters’ characters and the former is apprehensive of the sandwich Dahmer is offering her.

Moving forth, we meet a child wearing glasses, who is probably the younger version of Peters’ Dahmer. Coming back to the present-day Dahmer in the series, the actor is seen eating something while the mood continues to escalate on the forbidding scale as he tells Nash that it’s just meat.

Cars, people, an ambulance, and the police line up outside a building as another montage of the details of his room and childhood play out. A court scene with Dahmer wearing the orange suit is also unveiled, referring to his probable trial where unrest unleashes. The incessantly shifting scene then exposes him packing what looks like body parts in a suitcase and box.

A distressed Niecy Nash cries in front of the police as she reports that she had been calling them for months but it’s too late now. One last montage of confusing moments of disbelief rolls out before taking us back to the same room with the two actors in it. With a gravely controlled expression, Dahmer again orders her to eat the sandwich before the title of the series is revealed.

DAHMER Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story will be a limited series starring Evan Peters alongside Niecy Nash, Colin Ford, Shaun Brown, Richard Jenkins, and more. The series is all set for its exclusive premiere on Netflix on September 21, 2022.
