Cyberpunk Edgerunners Music Video: ‘I Really Want to Stay At Your House’ Creates Dystopian Magic

After the exceptional premiere of the futuristic dystopian anime Cyberpunk Edgerunners, Netflix has now released the I Really Want to Stay At Your House music video with the tagline “David + Lucy Forever.”. The song has been written, produced, and performed by Rosa Walton and digs into the synthpop music genre, in sync with the visuals of the anime.

The music video for the same depicts the two lovebirds embarking on a series of adventurous escapades and even sitting on the surface of the moon and looking at earth together. If that isn’t the quintessential image of romance, then I don’t know what is. Throughout the time duration of 4 minutes and 22 seconds, the video projects a majestical beauty unlike any other, with a color palette that screams cyberpunk tonality.

Netflix’s official synopsis of the series reads:

In a dystopia riddled with corruption and cybernetic implants, a talented but reckless street kid strives to become a mercenary outlaw — an edgerunner.

In an action-packed dysfunctional world, David and Lucy look out for each other and are each other’s rock. They’ve been through it all together during the course of the series and this music video is a pure reflection of it all. It’s but a celebration of their bond that the fans have come to adore so much and held the fanbase intact.

Some lyrics of the song go as follows: “And I’m awarе that you were lying in the gutter ‘Cause I did everything to be there by your side-ide So when you tell me I’m the reason I just can’t believe the lies And why do I so want to call you (Call you, call you, call you)”, detailing the nature of their dynamic.

Cyberpunk 2077 was already a grand name in the video game household, but with the coming of its anime counterparts, it’s safe to say that it has secured a safe space for itself in the hearts of many. Directed by Hiroyuki Imaishi alongside the creative eye of  Hiromi Wakabayashi and Yoh Yoshinari as the character and animation designer, the anime was meant to be a standalone storyline. Therefore, it isn’t likely that it will be renewed for another season at the moment.
