Citadel First Looks: Priyanka Chopra, Richard Madden and Stanley Tucci Fire Up in the New Amazon Original Series

Amazon Prime Video, slowly, but consistently puts out quality content into the world, and the Citadel first looks tease that it might be the same this time. Starring Priyanka Chopra, Richard Madden, Stanley Tucci, Janis Ahern, Nikki Amuka-Bird, Ashleigh Cummings and Timothy Busfield, alongside others, this series will be spanning countries and languages in a large franchise. As announced previously, Varun Dhawan and Samantha Ruth Prabhu will star in the Indian version of the same, while the Italian version has just been announced.

The English version is created by Patrick Moran and the Russo brothers, the latter of which will also be joining as series directors. Josh Appelbaum, Sarah Bradshaw, André Nemec, Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg join the show as writers. Citadel is currently under post-production, and the first looks show us how the series will shape up. There is some serious indication of an altercation, and Priyanka Chopra has been seen stuck in situations that are hard to get out of.

Meanwhile, Richard Madden teased that the show is about an agent who has been living a life for the past eight years that the old him would not recognise. He is an amnesiac who has been exploring how harsh his life had been before this accident eight years ago. Madden also explains that the show explores the consequences of living a life like this and how it affects the psyche.

In the first still, we see Chopra holding a gun at someone, and she already looks in charge. While the second still shows Madden looking at a screen with Chopra’s character Nadia Sinh’s picture. It is possible that his character has been tasked with finding Nadia Sinh.

In the next still, we see the characters in a stance that indicates that they are working together. Perhaps, someone changed sides and now they are teammates. It looks like a continuation of the first still. The fourth picture shows the duo standing close together against the sunlight. There may be some romantic angst and tension between the two characters within the show. As promised by the Russos, the show will be action-packed and include an emotional core at the centre.

Sinh is seen in the next, still fallen and bleeding from her forehead. There is a knife in her reach; if we knew more, perhaps it would show us that she only reaches for it in the next frame. The sixth still is the first time we see Stanley Tucci. He is looking at Madden’s character from across a circular table in a room with multiple agents. Apparently, Tucci will be playing an ex-Citadel agent and considering the way the show is under wraps; there isn’t anything yet to explain what that is. Maybe he has left the organisation and gone private.

The plot thickens with the next still in which Tucci is holding a gun to an undisclosed person with a serious expression on his face. He looks ready to make a decision. The next two stills are pretty tame, one of which shows Madden walking in an open hallway. The last one shows a still of Janis Ahern in what looks like her home. There is a tea set in the middle, expensive and fragile. It is possibly a funeral guessing from the clothes that she is seen wearing in the still.
