Citadel Finale Reactions: Netizens Predicted Major Plot Twist Well Ahead of the Last Episode; Mixed Feelings Soar High

High on the Citadel finale reactions, Twitter has spoken out both in favour and against the latest spy-verse instalment brought to us by its executive producers – the Russo Brothers. Starring Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Richard Madden, Stanley Tucci, Ashleigh Cummings, and others, the series was already backed by heavy fire in terms of its stellar star power, just as much as it was in the production department.

The high-budgeted Amazon original series created by Josh Appelbaum, Bryan Oh, and David Weil had a short run with merely 6 episodes in its first season. While the show commenced with a mellow and formulaic approach, viewers held on to hopes of better development over the coming episodes. Having premiered its first 2 episodes on April 28, 2023, the show gained mixed responses from netizens around the world, who constantly debated over it not weighing heavy enough despite packing so much ostensible heat on the surface.

The finale, i.e. Citadel episode 6 brought the first chapter of the story to its close on May 26, 2023, which again welcomed a myriad of reactions on Twitter, all varying in tone. While some viewers, who were essentially Priyanka’s die-hard fans, jumped on the bandwagon to watch this series for her, they also stayed till the end for the same reason, and claimed her to have won them over yet again. Proclaiming her as the bright highlight of the Amazon original, viewers were otherwise disappointed with how the show barely gave them anything new to play with.

Lacking a unique style of doing things in a spy thriller, the majority of Twitterati inevitably spotted the final plot twist from miles away. Madden and Chopra’s chemistry became another laudable win from Citadel Season 1, but few watchers dropped the series mid-season as they’d expected greater things from it. Conversely, the other half of the viewing party deemed the second half of the series better than the first one, yet they, too, mutually agreed that having 6 episodes in a show like this wasn’t enough for either the characters or the story to find a better pacing.

Despite these claims, there are quite a few viewers who rather liked the American TV series regardless of what others had to say. As a result, the latest update of the show being renewed for another season has them waiting in anticipation and hoping for a better storyline.

All 6 episodes of the season 1 are streaming on Amazon Prime Video. The OTT giant has also greenlit Citadel Season 2, but things will be taking a drastic turn in terms of its production as only Joe Russo will be directing the upcoming instalment.
