It looks like Chris Evans has been cast in another big project. This time he is cast as legendary American actor Gene Kelly who is famous for his performances in Cover Girl, Anchor Weight and On The Town, for which he was nominated for best actor in the academy awards. The project will be produced by Star Wars and Knives Out director Rian Johnson. The film is about a 12-year-old boy who works on the MGM lot in 1952 and begins to create an imagined friendship with the legendary movie star Kelly while working on his next film. The movie will be written by three-time Academy Award nominee John Logan. Although no studio is currently attached to the project.
Chris Evans was last seen in Rian Johnson’s Knives Out, which was a thriller comedy with a star-studded cast along with the likes of Daniel Craig, Ana De Armas and many more. The movie grossed more than 400 million in Box Office revenue. Before which he had starred as Captain America in the most successful movie of all time – Marvel’s Avengers Endgame. He also had a hilarious cameo in the recent Ryan Reynolds starring comedy-fantasy movie Free Guy. He got his big break with Edgar Wright’s Scott Pilgrim Vs The World, which also served as a launchpad for his marvel co-star Brie Larson, who eventually got to play Captain Marvel.
While Chris Evans is a talented actor, proving his mettle by starring in some of the biggest movies of all time in the recent Avengers movies as well smaller movies like Before We Go, the internet has not taken too kindly to the news of the Knives Out actor being cast as Gene Kelly. Half of the people think it is a brilliant casting decision while the other half is not so sure.
