Ghosted Review: The action romantic comedy stars Chris Evans as Cole Turner, Ana de Armas as Sadie Rhodes, Adrien Brody as Leveque, along with Tate Donovan, Amy Sedaris, Mike Moh and others. The Apple TV+ film is directed by Dexter Fletcher. The story is by Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, who wrote the screenplay along with Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers. The runtime is of 116 minutes.
Ghosted Movie Review Contains Mild Spoilers
In Apple TV’s Ghosted (2023 film), Cole, a farmer, and Sadie, a CIA agent, have a rocky first meet. Soon, their annoyance turns into romance, and they have a splendid first date. Cole, who gets called needy by his family and friends, sends multiple messages to Sadie, hoping to hear back from her. He’s unaware that she is a secret agent.
Somehow, Cole tracks down Sadie but soon lands in trouble. The romantic narrative takes a backseat, and we are dived into the world of action and crime. Whatever little time is left, the characters decide to romance each other. Is the movie worth watching? Well, not really.
After watching the entire movie, I felt Ghosted Apple TV+ would’ve been much better if it were just a romantic comedy. The entire first date sequence to Cole going crazy, as Sadie ghosts him, was enjoyable to watch. But the moment the story shifts to London, it gets disinteresting. Cole becomes a part of Sadie’s mission to stop Leveque from using a biochemical weapon that will cause a lot of harm to people.

If it weren’t for Chris Evans and Ana de Armas’ good looks and charm, Ghosted on Apple TV+ would’ve been unbearable throughout. The duo have good chemistry, act well and are also a bit funny. But overall, the script is underwhelming and silly. The action sequences aren’t thrilling to watch, either.

Ana’s not-so-secret (anymore) mission premise is dragged too much to let any romance shine. It’s not that romance and action cannot be balanced. In the Hindi movie Pathaan (2023), we saw how Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone, who play Spy agents, serve sizzling chemistry while on a mission to save the world. Even though the film is high on action, the romance stays with you till the end. Evans and Armas’ movie falls short of that.
Dexter Fletcher’s movie has some popular cameos. The cameos in Ghosted movie include – Anthony Mackie, John Cho, Sebastian Stan and Ryan Reynolds. But they’re as forgettable as Cole and Sadie’s first date after the spy action drama premise dominates the story. It’s a predictable story, so there’s no other appealing factor that serves as the motivation to watch the film till the end.

Ghosted Review: Final Thoughts
Overall, Chris Evans and Ana de Armas are all gun blazing at the enemies with loving and fun chemistry to save the world. Sadly, they cannot save the mediocre and lame story.
The movie is now streaming on Apple TV+.
