Chase, The 1st Mini Album from Shinee’s Minho marks his solo debut after debuting as a group in 2008. He is also the fifth and last member to release a mini album and calls himself the last puzzle piece, that connects all the member’s debut albums. The six individual tracks from his EP Chase were digitally released on Tuesday, while the EP’s physical copies and the music video for the title track will be available from December 12.
Usually, the boy band member had plans to release the album soon after his Netflix drama series The Fabulous was put on the air. However, the drama was postponed due to the tragic Itaewon incident and thus the album as well. The album consists of six tracks and two major collaborations.
The tracks in a sequence titled are – (Let me Out) Chase (놓아줘) which is the title track, followed by Runaway (featuring GEMINI), Prove it, Waterfall (featuring Lim Kim), Choice and Heartbreak. Moreover, the music video for the title track is said to be directed by the singer himself.

While at the press event for the album release, Minho talked about his EP which is based on hip-hop and R&B genres and that can be reflected in the title track. Chase is a chic but sentimental song which expresses the emptiness of a lover, who can’t be together with their loved one.
In the released cinematic trailer, it starts with a sweet memory of two lovers laying together in bed, while looking at each other. Followed by some more happy memories but it gets interrupted by a burning visual of a car. While Minho is seen laying injured and unconscious, even trying to help his lover. But from what we can infer, he wasn’t able to save her.
The lyrics of the songs also describe how Minho is probably living with the guilt of losing his lover. His first line says ‘I wake up from a long nightmare’ and how he can only meet her in his dreams, where he keeps on chasing her but could never reach her in real life. The singer has also taken part in songwriting, especially for the second track Runaway, which was a good contender for the title track.
But Minho chose the current title track in line with other members’ tracks, ie Taemin’s Ace, the late Jonghyun’s Base, Key’s Face and Onew’s Voice. In the latest Instagram post as well, he thanked all his members for leading the way and was thankful that he could add to their discography.
