This comedic series offers a glimpse into the life of Pete Davidson, in an exaggerated fictionalized version of his real-life character, which means that while it may not be entirely accurate, it captures the essence of who he is as a person and a performer.

The series opens with Pete struggling to balance his personal and professional life. He’s constantly on the gig, with his stand-up comedy and sketches. However, he’s also trying to maintain relationships with his friends and family and makes a decision to return to his home. As the show progresses, we see Pete dealing with various challenges, from relationship troubles to creative blocks, all while trying to maintain his sense of humour and his sanity.

One of the clear themes of the show is the tension between Pete’s desire for success and his fear of failure. He’s constantly pushing himself to be better, to write funnier jokes, and to become a bigger star, but he’s also backed down by self-doubt and anxiety.

This tension is not so apparent when Pete is hanging out with his grandfather (in this case, Joe Pesci). He’s obsessed with making it perfect, but he’s also worried that it won’t live up to his expectations or the expectations of his fans.

Moreover, based on the trailer of the series, we see Pete and his friends traversing through various challenges together. They help each other through breakups, creative risks, and personal crises, all while keeping each other grounded and focused on what’s important (for instance, a Heat rip-off with John Mulaney). Despite their differences, they’re all united by their love of comedy and their desire to make people laugh.
